  1. TBH, I do virtually all of my YouTubin' in FFX on my MBP. Chrome handles both FLV and HTML5 video horrifically.
  2. Location for a scene in Blade Runner.
  3. I just found out that Ronnie Kwon, a DJ and promoter that I used to work with died suddenly. I took this photo back in the summer of 2008, when I was visiting Northampton to buy slide film. Little did I know that it was sidewalk sale day, and downtown NoHo was a zoo. Ronnie was DJing in front of Dynamite's then new location (where it didn't last very long, sadly.) Over a decade ago, I worked with Ronnie extensively at was at that time the biggest night in the valley: LUSH @ Silent Cal's. That was so long ago it predates me being a photographer(!) so I have no photos from that era. Ronnie himself took a ton of photos during those days (which were really good, I might add). He made a bunch of 8x10" prints and hung them up in the club during the night. Also sadly, none of those pictures appear to be online. I had meant to ask Ronnie about the vintage LUSH shots many times, but now it that's an impossibility. This is the most recent shot I have of him, and it's from nearly 5 years ago.

Seiki brand 50" 4K (3840 x 2160) 120Hz television for $1300 + shipping. I have never heard of Seiki, but that is the cheapest I've seen a 4K set. Caveat emptor.

  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Elihk9ALlp0 23 years ago today, Carl Craig set the stage for his long and storied career as one of the best artists ever to come out of Detroit. On a 12" acetate where he isn't even credited correctly, Carl released this deep, melodic techno masterpieces that sounds arguably more futuristic now than the day it was released. With over two decades of subsequent releases by a legion of other artists (from luminaries like B12 to louts like dead-mau-five), it's possible to hear the influence of this track and its deceptively simple melody. "Elements" exemplifies everything that Detroit techno, and electronic music in general, can be. YouTube embed for simplicity, Grooveshark offers much higher quality.
