Thanks for the birthday wishes, folks. It's been a mellow birthday for me. I'm on the Vineyard, visting mum for the holidays. It's been uncharacteristically cold here, but in spite of that I've taken a few photos. The back yard, in IR. They had fireworks in front of the Harbour View Hotel for NYE. I took a bunch more, they'll show up in the photography thread ...eventually.

Aye. I did some research after I made that post. Currently if I want FW800 and video out, I'm SOL.

I'm going to take on the benighted task of attempting to embed two YouTube videos Some obscurity from the Los Angeles new wave scene. This band, and this song in particular have a bit of a cult following. This live video is a bit more raw than the album version and frankly rocks a bit harder. It also has the benefit of having the lyrics (which are half the fun) superimposed on it. The story (apocryphal or otherwise) is that the chorus was result of two of the band members struggling to have a conversation at a loud party. Also, every hipster ever has NOTHING on this band when it comes to being disaffected and aloof. This is the video the band produced for the song, directed by Jonathan Demme. It's fun but I prefer the live TV version.

Have any Head-Casers bought a third party Thunderbolt docking station? I think I'm going to be in the market for one early next year. What I'd like is one that has DVI, FW800, GBit ethernet and USB 2.0. Bonuses would be USB 3.0, and maybe HDMI & digital audio outputs. Anyone buy one these? What has your experience with it been?
