  1. Picked some prints I ordered, and gave my NeilMed neti pot system its first go. Fortunately, it went better for than this:
  2. I've had my CDP-2 for a year and a half now, and I really like it. It's the best source I've ever owned. It doesn't have all of the slam that the four DAC chips inside my Adcom GCD-750 produce, but it's much more nimble sounding. Oddly enough, it has great synergy with my 12L Actives. It's not a fair fight, but I prefer the sound of my CDP-2 to my humble Pico DAC (which is great for what it is.) In fact, I like it better than any of the other DACs in my house. The CDP-2 goes for $1200-ish new, AFAIK. What I'd like hear about is any DACs in the price range that best it. I read in another thread on here that the $1500 price bracket for DACs is a crowded one. A number of head-casers own or have owned the CDP-2 as well as other shiny DACs. I'm curious how the CDP-2 holds up against similarly priced competition. Also, how much more would one have to spend to thoroughly best it. I'm guessing most candidates would cost at least twice as much and involve tubes. Two obvious examples would be the Capitole and this damn thing.
  3. The message you have entered containes buggery. Please make it safe for work.
  4. My Art Shame: The Made-Up Movie They Tried To BAN!
  5. A pair of wireless headphones for $2. No joke. I bought them because they have detachable earpads that I can repurpose on some Kosses.
  6. A situation made worse by one's own proximity to the ceiling, eh Stretch?
  7. Richard D James is the granddaddy of IDM. He's also a raging asshat, and something of a money grubber. In his later years (the last decade or so) he'll release whatever floor sweepings he can find to rake in the cash. Fortunately, RDJ's floor sweepings are often better than most producer's magnum opus. Apparently he's been doing some DJ sets around Europe recently, and has been playing some new/unreleased material of his. Supposedly, this video is him playing live. There have been many fakes of RDJ releases over the years, so I'm alway suspicious. The music is pretty good, however. It might be his stuff.
  8. A woman was in bed with her lover when she heard her husband opening the front door. "Hurry!" she said. "Stand in the corner!" She quickly rubbed baby oil all over him and then she dusted him with talcum powder. "Don't move until I tell you to," she whispered. "Just pretend you're a statue." "What's this, honey?" the husband inquired as he entered the room. "Oh, it's just a statue," she replied nonchalantly. "The Smiths bought one for their bedroom. I liked it so much, I got one for us, too." No more was said about the statue, not even later that night when they went to sleep. Around 2 a.m., the husband got out of bed, went to the kitchen and returned a while later with a sandwich and a glass of milk. "Here," he said to the statue, "eat something. I stood like an idiot at the Smiths' for three days, and nobody offered me as much as a glass of water."
  9. Charles Eames chair as made by Herman Miller. I have one, from the 60s, that still has its tags on it. Sadly, there's a small hole in the leather on the ottoman.
  10. I got the image from this site: KENRICK SOUND - They specialize in restoring vintage JBLs.
  11. Wow. You have the strangest phone luck of anyone I know, Boomy. Today I have been trying to get done all the things I didn't do yesterday (which I used to recover from Sunday.) I scheduled a cleaning for my oil burner, left two messages with the contractor who's supposed to start work on my house (again) in June, and answered what felt like 1700 emails. I also negotiated a small venture with another photographer and TALKED MYSELF OUT OF BUYING MAGNEPAN 1.6QRs. TWICE. GAH.
