I disagree. The hp-2 mids and highs are extremely dry/dull. PS-1 gives the music a lot more life, even if it isn't as neutral. Biggie.

Lol PostJack, you inspired me to enter a new entry into UrbanDictionary.com: Sweetness Definition: What noobs over at the head-fi forum call ALO Cammo Hats. As these nubs become more experienced with the forum, they come to realize that their cammo hat is not in fact sweetness, but actually incredibly lame. Some of the worse off head-fiers get beaten up at school over their ALO hat after being asked by their classmates what ALO is, leading to the kid mistakenly pulling out his $150+ ALO wire (worth $10 in parts) and totally alienating all of his friends. Note that there are no real girls on head-fi, so only teenage boys are at risk. Example: Dude, my new ALO hat is total sweetness. Biggie.

No question copper ic's can sound harsh. But I've heard many smooth copper ic's and very few silver ones. Biggie.

I'm running a pair of monsoon mm 1000's off my stock soundcard. I'm thinking of a source upgrade but I'm not sure what my best option is. The speakers are self powered so I'm looking at: -cheap soundcard + external dac -good soundcard -usb dac The combo needs to be able to play music and games. Performance isn't an issue. I'm wondering where I'm going to get the best sound quality and bang for the buck from. Price range is whatever it takes to get something nice. Biggie.

Look for silver cables with dead soft annealed silver. Otherwize the cables is going to be harsher then comparable copper cables. If you settle for anything less, at first you'll think 'wow theres no much detail and clarity in my system', then a month later you won't even want to listen to your system and not realize why. ^^ Biggie.

My ps-1 is the bass heavy and the bass lite version. Depends on what tubes I'm using. Biggie.

Well there was no music playing when your driver blew correct? That tells me that the amp sent your phones something they couldn't handle. 1. I've been told this is bad practice 2. This is bad if your tube amp doesn't have a dummy load (no load = bad) Biggie.

Maybe you should look into getting an amp that doesn't blow up your headphones. Biggie.

Nice find. Now that I think of it, my amp was converted to use DC heaters. Before the mods (hooking the headphones up to the speaker posts using resistors) the amp was noticeably more noisy. Biggie.

I wasn't impressed with it. Typical dull ss sound with blurry imaging. Biggie.

Its a plastic hammond case. The glue doesn't have to be too sticky, but I fear something like white glue wouldn't bond well and end up flaking off over time. Biggie.

I bought some dampeners off ebay and they melted on the el34 tubes. The herbies version didn't melt so I like it better. Biggie.
