  1. Neat. So when's the (carbon) circlotron going to surface?
  2. The closest in dimension to the original heatsinks I've been able to find (cheaply) were from conradheatsinks. So there'd be a seam from joining two 200mm heatsinks, and I'd have to cheat a little with some spacers on either side of them to get the required 16.2" inside length. I drew the top cover to hide those seams, really. That and I happen to like how how the vitus amps look.
  3. I've been drawing up some panels recently, figured some others might be interested. Still have to triple check things, but I'm pretty sure I have all the critical measurements right. Some folks have expressed interest in another small board run, but not quite enough though. I'd like to avoid fronting the money myself & selling extras later if possible. So unless someone has a boardset (amp v1.07/psu v1.15) they'd be willing to sell I'll have to figure out what to do about PCBs later. Anyway, would anyone be interested in some quad RK50's? onlinecomponents.com has a decent discount on them if at least 5 are ordered.
  4. It'd be for the boards with the old sand.
  5. I've been looking to get some of the original T2 boards made for myself (in 3oz copper & 2mm thick). It looks like the only way to do it at a reasonable price would be to do a run of boards. So I've been talking with headinclouds about doing it through his PCB supplier and at 10 sets it'd be about £100. At 20 sets it'd be about £80. This doesn't include shipping or paypal fees. Still have to work out exact details, but under $200 is definitely possible at 10 sets. Anyway, pm me with your interest.
  6. Pretty neat build. Almost have room to spare in that case.
  7. If you want to split the cost I wouldn't mind taking an original board set (with the old sand like the 2sc3675's). Is that quote for the shrunk (400mm depth) boards?

Very nicely done. Looks even smaller than my build.

The blue cable is some sommer microphone cable. I forget the exact model, but it is shielded. The input PCBs I got from spritzer. I'd follow john's advice though.

They're rated for 1W/350V. I was surprised at how small they were though. http://ca.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=PR01000101501JA100virtualkey59420000virtualkey594-5073NW1K500JA100 @valve All the enclosure work was done with modushop.

It's the PSU from headincloud's group buy (V1.0). My LV caps are slightly too large at 12.5mm in diameter, so I had to lift them off the board a little.

Yea, the modushop case is what I used. I used 6mm standoffs for the boards too, so the tubes don't really stick out of their openings. You could probably get away without dedicated holes if you select short tubes.

I finished my KGST recently. The fit was pretty tight in this 2U/330mm/280mm case. Had to reduce the 1.5kOhm resistor to get the offset to 0V though. Spritzer did mention a case this small would need a lot of ventilation, so I went with a pretty open top cover. Dead silent operation too.
  14. Would putting in the LT1021 voltage reference but keeping the old sand (2SC3675, 2SA1486, etc) work?
  15. Oh, gotcha. Still interested though, JoaMat's mini T2 is something I'd like to build after I finish my kgst (as opposed to "sometime in the future" for the original T2).
  16. I'd certainly be interested in some of the old T2 transistors.
  17. It should be FJP2145 shouldn't it? Also I see two C3675's near the bottom left that should be 2145's.
  18. Have you measured the temperature on the tiny HVs? My small HV gets hotter than my old behemoth, but then that's no surprise. Still only 50C (give or take) on the sinks & top cover when it's warmed up.

Just got my PCBs in too. Looking forward to putting this together.
  20. Ouch. At least it was "only" a jolt and not something far worse... Anyway, the volume knob on my hv is 48mm in diameter.
  21. Sounds like the stax fart to me. If it is then it's nothing to worry about.
  22. I think I can call this done. 450V, 10mA output current, uses the old sand, and considerably smaller than my huge HV.
  23. Good news, the mafia v4 amp boards work Powered up my new (much smaller) HV and there's sound coming out of it. I had to lower the 2kOhm resistors before the offset pot to 1.74kOhm to get it to zero though. Once I get a replacement for this buzzing toroid I'll take a few pics.
