i'm on a roll... the kgsshv
Was answered I believe Kerry also mentioned to use AC325 for 400V output and AC360 for 450V output.

Is there much benefit in going with 680uF caps over 470uF ones in the PSU? The kemet 680uF ones are too tall to fit in a 2U case. Not sure if I want to go with the shorter caps or just cut holes in the top cover.

What should the forward voltage on the LEDs be? 2.1V? Also earlier I meant how the current for the amp is calculated, not the PSU. For example, what resistance at the current adjust would yield 20mA per leg?

Any problem with using these two for the higher wattage resistors on the PSU? Also, how exactly is the output current for the amp boards calculated?

Pretty certain he means the two 390kOhm resistors. For 450V you'd sub in two 440kOhm (or any two that add up to 880k).

Thanks kevin. Would 500V caps work for 450V operation or should 550V ones go in anyway?

For the SiC PSU, what's the voltage value for the 47uf caps near the top? Since the old zener string is gone, how exactly is the output voltage (400V vs 450V) determined?

Where did you see 680uf/550V caps for $32 kevin? Could only find this kemet cap on mouser.

So when will boards be available?

They're available on mouser last I checked.

What type of foam did you use? Just a few mm thick I assume? What about that wool mod on the other site? I'm almost tempted to get new earpads to try these out.

The Headcase Stax thread
My 009s are from december of 2013, not sure if that counts as a 'new pair'. Probably doesn't matter but the serial is SZ9-2295. Either way I don't find them bright at all. Anyway, mind sharing the details of the foam mod you've done?

Depending on price I may want more than one set.

The ultimate DIY? A Stax SRM-T2!
Thanks Kerry. Figured I may as well show my progress with the build: Still missing a number of xicons (as per the ad I posted) though. Unless someone has a chunk of them they're willing to spare I might pick up carbon takmans instead. Maybe just for the batteries in case vishays are fine outside of there.

You mean the STN9360? Pretty sure that's always been an option on the kgst boards.

Alright, I happen to have four which measure right on 65, so I'll use those in the batteries. I take it the hfe outside of the battery is less critical then?

Is it more important for the 3675's in the batteries to have matching hfe's, or for that hfe to be of higher value? Aside from three 3675's (which are 41x2 and 46) the rest of mine have a hfe between 50-70.
