  1. maybe Sennheiser PX100/200. fairly cheap, closed and possibly sounding OK. however, if you can deal with an open can, go for the MS1. 99$, free shipping world wide, best sound you will get for the money.
  2. Also note the 70s lava lamp in the back, the extra cheap discounter CD-R on the table and the bicycle seat on the left of the smiling guy.
  3. Something like this: A pair of male TRS - male TRS cables. For the extension, 10-15ft / 3~5m should be plenty. Thanks!
  4. i really don't mean to rush anybody here, but are there news about the cables yet? i'll be flying back to europe for 2-3 weeks on the next weekend and would like to take them home with me (if possible, of course). If there is a problem with TRS-TRS calbes, a headphone extension (unbalanced 1/4" TRS) would be appreciated, too (and last but not least, RCA calbes are always handy)
  5. a general question about this: how do you tell vontage RS1s from the newer version / when is an RS1 officially vintage? is it only the wooden box and the brown haedband? I am just asking, because the RS1 I recently heard looked different from all other Grados I knew (at least the box did); they had the usual black headband, but the box was a lot larger than the common 'pizzabox' (cardboard though) and had a green layer of cloth on the foam.
  6. Thanks G.E., one thing i could use would be a pair of balanced male TRS cables for my rig at home, doesnt need to be long 4 to 6 ft should do. The one I am currently using is self soldered with different extra-cheap connectors for both channels because the store didnt have any others in stock
  7. hay guys, just wondering: was the contest for the pretty rca cables still up? as you are still using the logos it seems to me as if i won tkam: do you want the .psd files for the logos? then you can mess around with them if you like...
  8. i always wanted to know that. also following the gear-in-sig-beacause-of-tkams-reasons-trend.
  9. Just checked with another forum: One guy has a S/N ~1500 and another one has ~1900. Both have only one thick ring. One tried taking that out and confirmed the lack of bass / increase in treble.
  10. Glad you guys like it. If you want any modifications, just let me know; maybe a favicon without the 'HC' on it?
  11. yes, one layer disc, dark grey shiny foam, with a hole the size of the inner mesh of the driver in it. There really seem to be differences throughout production. I remember a much fuller bass than my MS1, when I was listening to another guy's K701 before I bought mine. I will ask him about his s/n.
  12. From a post of another member of the German hifi-forum. They were discussing head-fi downtime and international alternatives.
  13. I tried mailing their sales staff for small quantities, but did not get an answer. I will wait until next week (maybe thanksgiving break) and try mailing the individual persons then....
  14. shadow + shine will look better on the darker blue background of the logo area.
  15. Yes they are, the thicker side goes to the back of your head. I just tries taking out the foam discs (had only one layer in my S/N ~16500 phones). And yes, now there is EVEN MORE treble, making listening a little more fatiguing. Don't know if I will keep it that way yet.. With the rings, I can turn the volume to a little higher level, giving me a fuller sound.
  16. thanks, TomB. I found them toom, but they do not have the caps that i need in stock. however according to their site they will restock the caps, if i take 25 pieces... I will have to contact them next week about this; its probably still cheaper than Newark or trying to get the caps in europe...
  17. Anyone knows a source for Sanyo Oscon capacitors (SMD type) in the US who sells to individuals? So far I found Newark/Farnell (very expensive because of 15$ for shipping from UK) and BD Enterprise (who do not have in stock, what I need). Any other US retailers?
  18. Hi! I've had my Juli@ for about a year now, and I'd like to give it some new OP amps and some OS CONs. I only want to modify the output channels (both RCA and TRS sides) as i hardly ever use the input. AFAIK there are 10 JRC 4580 opamps in total on the card; does anyone happen to know how many (and which) of these are used for the output? I will probably change all the capacitors but I'd like to limit the opamps as National only gives you 3 LM4562 samples at a time.. thanks!
