  1. He's quite successful even despite this, isn't he? At least that's how it looks like, even despite threads like this one. It's understandable why people like his stuff, they simply enjoy the sound of his decks, even though his products are kidna DIY still. Either one accepts that or moves on to something built fancier. (and/or engineered better, I can't say, not an engineer myself) Call me a fool, but personally I have nothing against quirky stuff like this AS LONG as it works for me sound wise.
  2. I understand people with no trust towards an amp (of any kind) with circuitry known to be on a certain quality level, yet sold for far more. This I really get. And having said that, the guys here operate in technical realm neither of us is able to keep up with
  3. All good. I've enjoyed his 933 and 925 is one of the finest integrated amps I've heard thus far. Still, I'm not a fanboy and I pay attention to what people here write in the Trilogy e-stat amp matter. If folks here say that this product isn't worth the asking because of its circuitry, well, not much more I can say as this gives me something to think about. I've decided to chime in here only because I know several Trilogy products, hence I quite get what sound characteristic their designer is after and one deck (925) I actually have nearby.
  4. Not sure about that e-stats amp, but here's 933 from the inside: PSU is a different box. In any case, I enjoyed this amp with HD800 and similar cans. It made sense to make them less artificial via Class A and it worked. Gutsy and authoritative sound, hmm. Not from the headphones realm, but FirstWatt F7.
  5. Hardly any surprise there with tuning, all Trilogy stuff sounds quite similar; gutsy and authoritative. These machines are not about speed, clarity and resolution in the first place, but substance and thickness instead. As you've put it, musicality is the focus usually. Their 933 HP amp (Class A packed into CNC milled aluminium enclosure) does the same things. My two cents.
  6. GG is going nowhere anytime soon, though I intend to somewhere in the future to get my hands on Yggdrasil. It seems to be a nice reality-check tool or something to have at home. We'll see how it goes. Quite the charmer, aren't you? Yes, that would be me, Matt's the name. Though your description doesn't quite fit the profile, too many happy customers out there. In any case, I'm not here to push my products to people here. The place looks like a lot of unusual fun, at least so I've been told and now I know it's all true.
  7. Not sure if this is of any importance, but Golden Gate from this picture in particular is the one I use daily. It was upgraded to balanced version and got silver front changed to black one. In any case, I previously owned two-box Level7 and moved from there. Yes, LampizatOrs aren't pretty inside. At least a good while ago (2 years back) that was the case, not sure how it is today. But this I know: this unit was purchased somewhere in September 2015 and it works flawlessly ever since. It's on duty eight hours a day, five days in a week and is never completely switched off. This is the best DAC I've heard thus far. Additional bonus is that LampizatOr HQ is about 15 kilometers from my place and the man who does them will do any fix needed if something bad happens. He's solid, I never had any issues when I wanted to upgrade my unit. IDK, maybe that's me only, but the ride thus far is enjoyable. As for DAVE, it's a great DAC. I believe that I could be very happy with it. I never had an opportunity to compare it to GG. But after hearing it several times in various places, usually with Utopias, my bet is that it's less showy and not this feisty, hence different. Still, it seemed to be quite balanced sounding with no obvious downsides. Just my two cents. In addition, I see that people diss LampizatOr a lot here and, to be perfectly honest, I understand why. The company is still one leg into DIY and its price tags are heavy. Overpriced products? Quite possibly yes. But the most important thing for me is there, I enjoy what I hear.
  8. I was wondering if Soekris stuff is here somewhere. That's a nice sight to be seen.
  9. On the contrary, my expectations are high and having said that, top tier headphones are very overpriced. What I wanted to say is that subjectively the product looks nice on the pictures, I enjoy this design. But only once on hand I could comment it in any additional way. For now I'll simply rely on feedback here and in other similar places
  10. That $4k trend is getting more and more serious. The product itself looks good, yet what you folks wrote here, damn....
