here you go nate: Linksys by Cisco Wireless-G Range Expander WRE54GI too am in the market for an extender, just running B/G, is there anything cheaper than the APX? I'd had to pay for the extender than I did for the router.
I have one of these lying around gathering dust as I went n a while back and the increased range negated my need for it. I can send it on to you if you want to give it a try. Let me know.

airport express will act as an N extender.
Dan always beats me to it.

BTW, is that preamp output I see on the back, and if so, how does it sound? (poor audiofool trying to justify purchase in 'stat/speaker system)

If Chuck Norris were an amp, Chuck Norris would be a BHSE!!

I notice it with all my headphones - Qualia, AD2000, K701, and ES7. Least audible with the K701 of course, just barely noticeable.
Well it sounds like there may be a problem with your amp, your power or the sensitivity of your hearing. Ever notice any annoying clicks when you are out and about in the summertime at night?

They're not the best thing since baguettes.

So what headphones do you notice the hiss and is it the same across those phones?
-
I have hiss on my unit. Nothing connected except power, and it's fairly audible. I take it mine is the only one so far with hiss? Also I get transformer-like buzz when I crank up the volume...
Since this is the second time in recent history you have mentioned fairly audible background hiss (previously the Shanling) methinks you should search out some other component(s) in the chain or on the circuit.

I'm using the previous generation Mac Mini with the slower processor, 1Gb Ram and the 80Gb HD. It is more than fast enough and I have noticed absolutely nothing that would indicate any need to upgrade anything except for perhaps the shitty monitor I'm using because I was trying to do this as cheaply as possible.

Happy drinking fella's (Only because I know the queen will not be partaking)

The 12L actives have an XLR input on the back so my guess is that he's running them with a balanced preamp. Most subs want a single-ended signal so the cabling of such an arrangement could get complicated. At least, that's the only logical thing I can come up with.
Ok, makes sense. I would agree that it's not plug-and-play, but it is certainly doable. But yeah, passive would probably make things easier.

Good news. Thanks for sharing.

count me out for this meet for now. too much work still remains to be done before monday hope everyone has a great time.
[DannyB]How are you going to sell your gear if you don't go to meets?[/DannyB]

Also, I'm running them(the quads) in a balanced system so it's a pain to figure out how to work a sub in.

Dudes, WTF with the avatars? It's creeping me out. Don't you know that irony DOES NOT CONVEY on the internet?
Look for the pods.

What was so "Head-Fi" about that? I heard them at a meet out of a Millet tube amp and didn't like them. What, because I didn't own them for a long period of time I can't form an opinion about those headphones?
You can have whatever opinion you want and I reserve the right to form my own opinion about that opinion, and I did.
Happy 69th Birthday Chuck Norris!
