Yes, then you've paid off your original subsidy and qualify for the new one when you re-up. So you'd pay the standard $99, $199, $299 depending on model. They're essentially splitting the difference. Unsubsidized price of the 32GB phone is $699. 3G owners who are not currently upgrade-eligible get half the subsidy at $499, if they sign up for another 2 years. New buyers get it all at $299.

Free, eh? I'll take seven. EDIT: Checked online and it'll cost me $500 for a 32G 3G S if I upgrade early. Bleah.

I might sit this one out. Bwaaahaaahaaa. As if. Anyone heard yet what the AT&T upgrade conditions will be for current 3G owners who are still under contract?

HD800? Another rumor?
PS: Have we found out yet what the deal is with the serial numbers and how we're actually supposed to register them?

HD800? Another rumor?
Quite so. Certainly supporting that thesis is the fact that different songs on the same album can range from silky smooth to oh-god-needles-in-my-ears.

Parasound DAC-1000 or Little Dot DAC 1
Seems a bit harsh. He was polite and concise and the comparison isn't unreasonable. Lots of folks around here still favor the various Parasound DACs over much more expensive and more modern units, so the consensus will almost certainly be to go that way. Your sound card has an optical out, so you can use that connection. In general, cheap USB DACs tend to leave something to be desired. Even better examples like the Cambridge Audio DACMagic measure much worse over that interface than over either their RCA or Toslink inputs. Welcome to HeadCase!

We're out further West in Hopkinton, Ken. My local pusher is Julio's and they're really better for beer and spirits than for wine*. But I'll always take an excuse to hit Brookline Liquor Mart, Post Road Liquors in Wayland or Gordon's in Waltham. I haven't come across the Winecellar of Silene before, but now I'll be visiting soon. * The spirits buyer runs this local club. I could probably pick up a few of the extra shirts if anyone was interested.- What did you do today?
Took the kids to free-icecream day at Friendlys. Free icecream turns people into frigging animals! Then took myself to buy-two-cases-or-more-and-get-20%-off day at my local wine merchant. Went hog wild.- What are you EATING right now?
Last night we went to Ken Oringer's newish tapas place in the South End. It was a mob scene, but the food was excellent. He does these grilled ears of corn slathered all over with spicy aioli and some sort of grated Spanish cheese -- maybe Idiazabal -- which are just disgusting(ly good). Thanks to the whisky bust after dinner, I couldn't face breakfast. Just had gyoza and yaki udon for lunch -- we'll see how the cuisines coexist. - What are you listening to Part Two
