  1. Gomez -- A New Tide Not as good as the last one. But well ahead of 95% of the other shite out there today.

  3. Eels -- Hombre Lobo
  4. James Taylor -- Never Die Young
  5. 10cc -- The Original Soundtrack feckn_eexcellent.
  6. We're out further West in Hopkinton, Ken. My local pusher is Julio's and they're really better for beer and spirits than for wine*. But I'll always take an excuse to hit Brookline Liquor Mart, Post Road Liquors in Wayland or Gordon's in Waltham. I haven't come across the Winecellar of Silene before, but now I'll be visiting soon. * The spirits buyer runs this local club. I could probably pick up a few of the extra shirts if anyone was interested.
  7. Took the kids to free-icecream day at Friendlys. Free icecream turns people into frigging animals! Then took myself to buy-two-cases-or-more-and-get-20%-off day at my local wine merchant. Went hog wild.
  8. Last night we went to Ken Oringer's newish tapas place in the South End. It was a mob scene, but the food was excellent. He does these grilled ears of corn slathered all over with spicy aioli and some sort of grated Spanish cheese -- maybe Idiazabal -- which are just disgusting(ly good). Thanks to the whisky bust after dinner, I couldn't face breakfast. Just had gyoza and yaki udon for lunch -- we'll see how the cuisines coexist.
  9. Nope, but if it suddenly became absolutely imperative to tie off the old ball sack, I think I'd be looking for a knot that won't slip and definitely won't jam. Something like a bowline would likely serve.
  10. You don't need to see his credit card statement. These aren't the components you're looking for. He can go about his business.
  11. I also find them very comfortable. Perversely, this means I am constantly fiddling with them, trying to find exactly the right way to orient them on my head.

  13. Mouse head?
  14. What's wrong with the good old skull of an enemy? Some islander you are.
  15. They really are exceptional headphones, though. Holy moley. Finding it quite hard to pull off the usual multi-tasking while listening. Keep getting sucked into the music. I do sstill find them ssomewhat ssibilant on particular recordingss, but no one else sseemss to mind sso maybe itss jusst my earss.
  16. It is pretty funny. Except of course the HD800s have a five digit serial and the box has a nine digit ID number. I guess they really are game-changing!
  17. HD800 | | HF-2 | HF-1/HD600 HD650 | | | RS-2 We'll have to see if woodying the HF-1s can move them back up the ladder.
  18. I realize this isn't of any use as a comparison, but I'm happy to testify that the GS-1 is doing a fine job driving my HD800s right now. Will say this, with such a neutral headphone off such a neutral amp, good recordings sound wonderful but crappy ones are pretty much unlistenable. Anything with a hint of "sizzle", in particular, is quite painfully well-portrayed.
  19. Third bottle.
  20. Big Country -- The Crossing No birds were pictured in the making of this album.
  21. Those are usually transparent. Um, I hear.
  22. Andrew Bird -- Armchair Apocrypha I would say that Andrew Bird and Ardbeg are the two best things I have discovered solely as a result of Head-Case so far.
  23. Stretch smash!
  24. Stretch like?
