I heard the PK1s and noticed that sounded under powered without a amp. My govibe was able to push it, not well. Now i dont see you talk about if you want Earbuds or IEMs, headphones... For buds, PK2 or PK3, with the PK3 being easier to push. For IEMs, i was using E4 without a amp for a while, just moved up to the SA6s which are nice, but kinda do need a amp. You can get the sound loud enough just cause they are IEM and isolate. For full size, i would go with a SR60 or maybe a SR80...heck even a iGrado....POssibly a pair of PX100s.

No, i traded the kenrad with Mikhail for the VT231 Sylvania....we tested it in a few amps and it didnt hum in any of them...put it in the DV and it hummed within 30 seconds.

Hey jack =) I was thinking about it actually...but i needed a new amp first and have such mad love for my 650s with the oracle cable. I wanted a headroom amp badly =) Next step up is the balanced setup =) Might not be =) i have the amp and all the tubes sold, minus the VT231.

God i know, i want to keep everything and make a different room for a different setup...but then my high wore off =( Its going to be a nice upgrade for me....the DV served me well and it was a FANTASTIC amp, hate to see it go. Would love if it got a good home.... Remember when i got it? I was SOOOOOO excited i almost didnt sleep the entire night before ahhaa. Just cause it kept going through my head im spending a few hundred dollars on a headphone amp..

Just curious, what didnt you like about them? Only thing off the top of my head was the earpads and the sweaty ear syndrome =) In fact, the 2000s was going to be my possible next can purchase....after i upgraded my amp.

Vista + 1gb of memory = If you running vista, i would suggest NOTHING less then 3GB of ram... I just got my Asus G1, really kick ass machine for the price. Similar specs, really nice built...I LOVE the hinges on this thing. First thing i look at when i get a laptop is the hinges on the screen.

I got a chance to listen to both the 5000s and the 2000s. I have to say, the 5000s seem much better with the proper amp. With a small headroom amp (Micro line) the 2000s sounded much nice with more impact. The 5000s didnt have much of a impact and were a tad brighter. However, to my ears, the 5000s almost, and i said ALMOST, sound like a open can. The 2000s sound congested for sure. I would use either, but would pair it with the proper system....
