If that ever changes, I'm out of here.

What if you didn't know about the condition because your selfish parents bought a BMW instead of health insurance? Now I feel bad, we've dragged Nate into this.
-
I guess we are way overpaying for insurance for our staff. I'll have to look into this.

That's Denver. Sorry about the huge pic but I wanted to fill the void for Dan.

Here is a pic:

I think your are generalizing here as to who is and isn't being helped. For example, the Chips law that didin't get extended to cover more kids. The upper income limit would have been like $70,000 or $80,000 dollars for a family of 4, roughly 4x the poverty level but the President would not sign and the Republicans in the Senate blocked it. If you think a family of 4 earning $80,000 a year is middle class and can afford health insurance, I think you are mistaken. Medicaid doesn't help those that are caught between poverty and the middle class.

This sounds interesting.

It was called Take It Outside where you could go and discuss politics and religion. I had fun but in the end it became a problem to moderate. Not that there was a lot of moderation but things became personal for some and that wasn't tolerated.

Your just wrong Dan. There are plenty of people that can't get care for their cancer, and other serious medical problems. You can show up at the ER and get treatment but don't think that if you are diagnosed with cancer, they will provide you chemotheratpy or whatever else you need. No, we are not socialists but I would hope that we are compassinate enough to help those that for a variety of reasons can't help themselves. Are we all really that selfish? If so, shame on us. You know what, then lets all stop paying taxes and just make it a free for all. So what if children are on the street with no home and their parents dying from cancer. To hell with them, they are not our kids. Sorry, I just find that shameful. I could use the extra money each year from not paying taxes to send my kids to the most expensive private university, live in a nice apartment with a nice new car in the driveway, and...

That is certainly honorable. I have no problem with you earning a good living. You've put in a lot of time and effort and the work is hard. That would be one of my disagreements with her plan, the idea of fining someone. Remeber, I'm in favor a single payer plan so both Obama and Clinton don't fit with my views. I was able to stay out of this thread since aerius was doing a fine job without me. I used to like the TIO forum at HF (not sure how many here were around for it) but I think this politics takes away from my fun as I take it so, maybe too, seriously.

The system now if undeniably flawed. I would take a less flawed plan over the current one, if it means 17,000,000 more people will have access to health insurance. There will never be a perfect plan or system for healthcare or anything else. I'm sorry but it's unacceptable to me that 17 million people don't have access to health insurance in what is supposed to be the greatest, most compassionate country on earth. Jack, I agree in conclusion with you but my problem with McCain now is that he is a Bush apologist. He is also a hypocrite. He was attacked viciously in South Carolina in '00 by Bush and turns around and is his best friend. That shows a lack of a backbone which surprised me considering he served this country honorably all these years. One of the most important reasons from me not voting for any Republican (there are many bu this is the most important) is that 2 to 3 Supreme Court Justices are likely to retire and if a Republican is in office a women's right to choose will be taken away. I have a daughter and that is absolutely unacceptable to me. A president can only fuck things up for 2 terms, a Supreme Court Justice can do it for generations.

States are not financially in a position to support a universal healtcare plan or at least they are not in as good a position as the federal government which already has a system set up (Medicare) which is a pretty efficient system. It can be argued whether it is or isn't more efficient than private healthcare. From the limited research I've done, the independent research seems to support that it is more efficent having more of each dollar coming in going to providing healthcare. If this statement, "At least people can still have private insurance to cover themselves under HILLARY THIS WOULD NOT BE AN OPTION." was referring to Hillary's old plan then it has no relevance to what she would do today so why even mention it. aerious pointed this out and you said in response that you were referring to her old plan from the '90s. If this is true, then why mention it?

Congrats on the iMac. They are pretty sweet machines.

You were right. I disconnected the ethernet connection to the mac mini and the green light stayed on. I've listened for about 20 minutes without any streaming issues.
-
I will give it a try later and report back.

Like the Airport Express, there is a blinking amber light that needs to turn green. I was unable to get the TC to turn green wirelessly. The mac mini was unable to find it. Once I connected it using ethernet, it went solid green. I am sure it will work wirelessly with the mini, I just ran out of patience trying to figure it out. I am pretty certain that if you were doing it, it would not be a problem.
-
It took some effort but the TC is working. I decided that since it's an "n" router, I decided to use it for my router instead of my Motorola cable modem/''g'' router. So the TC is connected via the ethernet wan connection to the Motorola. I wanted to run it wireless from there but had an issue that I couldn't resolve so I connected the TC for now by ethernet to my mac mini. I moved 457gb of music from my usb drive to the TC without a problem. It took no longer than 8 hours for the transfer. The two pc notebooks and a macbook found the TC and I was able to run Time Machine on the mac for backup and I was able to transfer wirelessly a bunch of files from my Vaio notebook. I only tested itunes with the TC this morning to see if it played and it did.

I would love to it but even if I could get the time to train and then take the trip, the cost would be prohibitive. I was fascinated with it and read a few books about it, caught whatever tv show I could find about it. I enjoy rock climbing but top roping only so far. The guide we had last summer at Yosemite said we should learn to do a multi pitch climb next time we go climbing. I think next year, my wife and I are going to take an REI sponsored trip to Croatia to sea kayak, hike, bike and raft. That's enough of an adventure for me.

I'll let you know by tonight.

Once you give in to the inevitable and get a mac mini/duet, the iTouch will be your remote. Time Capsule arrived a day early.

Recommendation for an External HD for Mac?
tyrion replied to The Monkey's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
I know it's pricey but I'm going with an Apple Time Capsule, 1TB. I am looking for ease of use, no wires and easy access for the other comps in the house to use as backup. I should have it on Tuesday. -
aardvark, so what is it that Glen Beck said in the You Tube clip do you find to be so informative and supportive of some argument against Clinton or Obama for that matter. I watched the entire clip and found nothing profound. Do you enjoy paying $3.50/gal for gas while oil companies make record profits. Or is it our fault for buying it and if we don't like it we can stop and the price will go down? As if this is a possibility as our society exist at present. I can't imagine what it's like for someone making say $50,000 a year, paying $50 or more a week just so he or she can get back and forth to work and take the kids where they need to go. Is it our fault for letting it happen, absolutely but it's not like much has been done in the last 7 years or 15 to change it. There are a number of studies that suggest that Medicare is a far more efficient provider of health coverage than are private insurers. I've read those that say this is not so but they seem to be industry sponsored in some way. If medicare was a the single payer, think of the clout if would have in the marketplace to negotiate costs with drug companies for example. Is it the best possible system? I don't know but I am willing to give it or some form of it a try to see if it's better than what we have now. Especially if it will give those 47,000,000 (9,000,000 of which are children) do not have access to heath insurance. This is America, is that how we want to treat our own? What does that say about us? If it means those that have, need to sacrifice a bit, so what. I thought sacrifice for our country was an honorable thing to do. Military service, Peace Corp, etc are all sacrifices some make for others. One of the reasons there aren't riots in the streets over this war is because no one other than the soldiers, sailors, marines and their families have been asked to sacrifice. I'm not rich but I certainly do well. I would bet I will pay more in taxes than some on this board make in a year for a living. Having said that, if it means I have to pay some more so those 47,000,000 get insurance coverage then so be it. I believe that providing for those that need help is what makes this country great. The fact that in times of need people are willing to sacrifice to help others. Sure there are those that are just lazy and don't deserve our help but are you going to punish those that just aren't able to make enough money to buy health insurance despite their hard work because of those lazy ones? I hope not. Something needs to change and I don't pretend for a moment to think that the Dems have all the answers but I am certain that the Rebublicans don't. I'm ready for another party but not at the sacrifice of putting another Republican in the Oval Office. Put in a Dem and then I will be ready to look to supporting a third party.

You can probably blame me.
