  1. You're a smart guy, figure it out yourself.
  2. That's what I figured. The other questions can stand as long as they want. If someone has proof that any of the above rumors are true, post it. Otherwise this has become an exercise in the ridiculous. I have no reason to believe this is not true.
  3. You can play games all you want. If you are aware of such an occurrence then share it with us. If not, continue with the fun. I used the phase "I am not" in reference to whether KenW was "aware". If he or anyone else is "aware", then you or they can post it and we can move on from there. I am not aware of such an event as described by you, 909 or anyone else in this thread. My initial post was to address 909's comment.
  4. I think I was pretty clear in responding to 909's post. Again, if you are aware of a Raptor causing a fire, regardless of whether there was or wasn't a lawsuit, I would love to hear about it.
  5. Are you aware of a claim against Ray that has not gone as far as a lawsuit from a fire caused by a Raptor? I am not. Or was that an attempt at humor?
  6. This is the comment by 909 that I addressed with my post was, "Raptor started a house fire and now Ray is being sued for it." That statement is untrue.
  7. Whether it's an urban legend, I don't know. It is not true, that much I do know.
  8. I can't comment on what will happen if such a thread was posted since I haven't seen the thread and shouldn't discuss it anyway. I am curious since I've ordered the $200 upgrade, does anyone know the name of the person that received the $200 ps with used parts (caps ?) other than KG.? If the name was known, those who have concerns could at least contact him or her (being politically correct) privately. My information is that Ray takes the old board out with all the parts and drops in an new one that is already assembled.
  9. It's all personal choice. I enjoy the search for cheap albums. At the National Meet wmcmanus, jp11801 were going through boxes of vinyl at this shop in Queens that was getting rid of their vinyl at $2 a record. I think between the 3 of us we walked out with 50 or more albums. I can understand why some wouldn't enjoy that but for me it was the perfect lead in to a day of bar hopping in NYC. You are right about the expense. I have a modest setup and at retail it's about $3200 including tt, cart and phono stage.
  10. Haj, I probably spend 40 to 50% of the time listening to vinyl. I get more enjoyment from listening to vinyl than I do from most digital rigs. The music sounds so alive and natural. The search for vinyl is as much fun as listening to it. I went to a local cd/vinyl shop on Sunday and for $32 walked away with 4 great sounding albums. I grew up with a vinyl rig so for me I get a kick out of finding the albums I owned as a kid. If you don't mind the extra trouble of having to clean your records every so often and flip sides, I would find it hard to believe that you wouldn't enjoy it.
  11. Nate, congrats on catching the bug. I am sorry to say that it is incurable for most and continues to multply as time goes on. I predict a VPI Scout within the year. There is plenty of good used vinyl around but it requires a good eye. There have been albums I've brought home that look great but didn't play well due to wear that I could not see. There is a lot of available new vinyl on the net. Another good source is to watch the for sale ads on Steve Hoffman's site. I've gotten some nice deals there. Enjoy!
  12. Planning for an event such as Katrina is difficultm but it is also part of the job and far from impossible. Again, if it's too hard move over and let someone else do it. As to the war, I am glad to hear it.
  13. Yeah, that's what I said, the hurricane was Bush's fault. Stating that he ignored the situation is a far cry from blaming on what you would call an act of G-d and what I would call a meteorological phenomena. There is plenty of fault to go around. The fact that others are at fault does not diminish his responsibility as President. You brought up he killing babies thing in a post where you said you don't believe in that or the death penalty. Well if you defend this President and this war then killing babies or civilians can't be much of a problem for you. If I misunderstood and you are not defending the President and this war, then good for you. I take back any statements that said otherwise.
  14. Apparently when killing babies are collateral damage, you don't seem to have a problem with it. I didn't give him his powers. I tried as hard as I could to prevent him from getting those powers. Once he got them it was his obligation, no duty, to use them for the better, not the worse. I don't think it's called messing up when you start a war that didn't need to happen. I don't think it's messing up when the war you started destroys as many lives as this war has destroyed. I don't think you call it messing up when a CIA operative's name is leaked in the name of political payback, jeoperdizing countless people and intellegence and then say you will punish anyone involved in that leak, then don't. It's not messing up when you order domestic spying without warrant despite a law against it. The same law that same law which provides the exact mechanism to allow you to do the spying. It's not messing up when you ignore what happened in New Orleans and Mississippi, despite knowing what was going to happen. Allowing a man to be put in charge of the agency that is suppossed to respond, with zero experience in emergency management and ignore even his warnings. The list is almost endless. If this is the best he can do, then perhaps he should step aside and let someone who can do the job. If the job is so hard as he said over and over during the debates, then maybe he should let someone who can do the hard work step in.
  15. How dare you equate what happened and is happening in Iraq to people dying from disease, car accidents, etc. These soldiers signed up to fight in a war to defend our country. Iraq was hardly a threat to our country. Soldiers should be sent to die only when it is absolutely necessary, not because some dimwit in the White House decides they should for no reason. Iraq was completely neuterd. We had the country contained. They couldn't put anything in the air besides a helicopter without our permission. There were no WMD's becasue, contrary to everything the Bush Adm. said, the weapons inspecters did their job. Let's not forget the innocent Iragis that died at our hands invading their country for no reason. I don't think those men, women and children wanted to lay their lives down because Bush said it was time. Do you have any idea how many thousands of civilians died at our hands (somewhere between 35,000 and 39,000). Don't tell me about collateral damage. There was no need for any damage, collateral or otherwise, when there is no need for the war that caused the collateral damage. "Stupid stuff"? We're not talking about stupid stuff here. 2437 American's are dead. Well over 17,648 are wounded, many horribly due to the malfeasance and misfeasance of this President. It wasn't just stupid, it was at best negligence and at worst criminal. "Presidents can't actually do much of anything." This president has signed countless orders which in essence says he can do things, because he is the President despite laws to the contrary. Here are a couple of examples. There are 750 in total: March 9: Justice Department officials must give reports to Congress by certain dates on how the FBI is using the USA Patriot Act to search homes and secretly seize papers. Bush's signing statement: The president can order Justice Department officials to withhold any information from Congress if he decides it could impair national security or executive branch operations. Dec. 30, 2005: US interrogators cannot torture prisoners or otherwise subject them to cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment. Bush's signing statement: The president, as commander in chief, can waive the torture ban if he decides that harsh interrogation techniques will assist in preventing terrorist attacks. How about domestic spying. Maybe your ready to roll over and give up your civil rights, I'm not. Too many soldiers have died to defend them. Is this country so weak that we can't figure out how to defend ourselves without trampeling on our civil rights? I don't think so. You really believe that he was misinformed? Are you really that blindly obedient that you can't see beyond what you hear on Fox News? If Iraq had WMD's (the first but not last justification for going into Iraq), where do you think he got them from or at least who do you think condoned their use?: That's from 12/20/93 when Rummy was an envoy for Reagan, when Saddam was our best friend. By the way he is being tried for crimes that he committed when he was our best friend in the area. This visit took place at a time when we knew that Iraq was using chemical weapons in it's war with Iran and we did nothing about it. Talk about hypocracy. Who do you think signed it into law? If the gov't overstepped it's bounds then it is this Presidents fault and no one elses. The buck stops with him. His party controls both the House and Senate. There is no oversight, he does whatever he wants. I could go on forever. For whatever it's worth, I was an volunteer voting rights attorney during the last presidential election and worked the polls on election day. I've been actively involved in a campaign for one of the people running for Governor of Florida. I contribute time and money. I will agree with one thing you said and that is we do need to empower ourselves before our ability to do so is taken away.
  16. It's not whining, it's stating my opinion about what I considered to be childish behavior. You know, the kind you would see in a school yard.
  17. This is bs. Billy, I guess your just a real tough guy. Guys, it's been fun but I am apparently not bright enough to figure out the point of this website other than to do a lot of bashing of other people. If that's what your into, have a great time. I feel like I am reading the posts of a bunch of cliquey high school students.
  18. Me intense, what the f are you talking about. I am as easy going as they come if you I am treated the same. Seriously, what slacker is referring to is something, I think he already knows, I don't appreciate. This isn't about amps and headphones.
  19. I will assure of one thing, your comments do not amuse me. If you want to f around on this board fine, however, I would request you not do it in NYC at the meet. especially in my presence.
  20. As jp11801 likes to remind me when I ask what time it is, "it's beer:30" I have a feeling the tops will be off early on. Don't worry, we will save you some.
  21. We will decide Wed. I am leaning towards a Sierra Nevada clone.
