Recommendation for an External HD for Mac?
tyrion replied to The Monkey's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
I know it's pricey but I'm going with an Apple Time Capsule, 1TB. I am looking for ease of use, no wires and easy access for the other comps in the house to use as backup. I should have it on Tuesday. -
aardvark, so what is it that Glen Beck said in the You Tube clip do you find to be so informative and supportive of some argument against Clinton or Obama for that matter. I watched the entire clip and found nothing profound. Do you enjoy paying $3.50/gal for gas while oil companies make record profits. Or is it our fault for buying it and if we don't like it we can stop and the price will go down? As if this is a possibility as our society exist at present. I can't imagine what it's like for someone making say $50,000 a year, paying $50 or more a week just so he or she can get back and forth to work and take the kids where they need to go. Is it our fault for letting it happen, absolutely but it's not like much has been done in the last 7 years or 15 to change it. There are a number of studies that suggest that Medicare is a far more efficient provider of health coverage than are private insurers. I've read those that say this is not so but they seem to be industry sponsored in some way. If medicare was a the single payer, think of the clout if would have in the marketplace to negotiate costs with drug companies for example. Is it the best possible system? I don't know but I am willing to give it or some form of it a try to see if it's better than what we have now. Especially if it will give those 47,000,000 (9,000,000 of which are children) do not have access to heath insurance. This is America, is that how we want to treat our own? What does that say about us? If it means those that have, need to sacrifice a bit, so what. I thought sacrifice for our country was an honorable thing to do. Military service, Peace Corp, etc are all sacrifices some make for others. One of the reasons there aren't riots in the streets over this war is because no one other than the soldiers, sailors, marines and their families have been asked to sacrifice. I'm not rich but I certainly do well. I would bet I will pay more in taxes than some on this board make in a year for a living. Having said that, if it means I have to pay some more so those 47,000,000 get insurance coverage then so be it. I believe that providing for those that need help is what makes this country great. The fact that in times of need people are willing to sacrifice to help others. Sure there are those that are just lazy and don't deserve our help but are you going to punish those that just aren't able to make enough money to buy health insurance despite their hard work because of those lazy ones? I hope not. Something needs to change and I don't pretend for a moment to think that the Dems have all the answers but I am certain that the Rebublicans don't. I'm ready for another party but not at the sacrifice of putting another Republican in the Oval Office. Put in a Dem and then I will be ready to look to supporting a third party.

You can probably blame me.

There is research that suggests that the increase in premiums is not related to malpractice awards. Rather it's that the insurance companies are making less on the investment side so premiums are raised by the insurance companies. Remember, it's not the lawyers that are sitting on the juries giving all this money away. I will tell you that I know first hand that we would not bring a frivilous malpractice case because they cost too much. I know plenty of good doctors down here that have a very nice lifestyle and complain to me about their premiums and then drive away in their $100,000 Mercedes on the way to their $2 million dollar home. I don't begrudge them the Mercedes or the home but don't complain to me that your premiums are too high. Doctors should cover their asses because what they do can hurt people if done wrong. The problem with healthcare cost is not defensive medicine, it's a lack of efficiency in the way we pay for healthcare. I've had migraine most of my life. Imitrex was a life saver. The injectable is far faster acting than the pill. I recently asked my doc to Rx the injectable in addition to the pills.

Do you believe that that sort of thing doesn't happen here? When was the last time you went to the ER to be treated and didn't have to wait a long time for all the people going there for there primary medical care because they have no insurance? I don't pretend to know the solution but there has got to be something better than what we have. NightWoundsTime waited almost 3 months for his hernia surgery through insurance. Healthcare in the US is pretty good if you have insurance, not so good if you don't.
-
You mean, Surgeon General deepak.
-
I'm just curious because I don't think I have another fight in me tonight but what's so good about our current healthcare system?
-
I understood what you meant just not sure what to say in response. I don't type very fast and with the speed that this discussion took, it's difficult to say everything I might have wanted to had we been sitting around drinking a couple of beers and had all night.
-
I love this stuff, mostly because it's too important to ignore, which I think is where this discussion all began.
-
I'm not even sure how to respond to that but I guess that's my problem.
-
The beauty of this country, at least for the moment, is you are free to voice your opinions no matter how much I may disagree with them. You've said enough for me but I never said you couldn't continue. Okay, well now I understand. What was I thinking.
-
We didn't attack unprovoked? And to think, I thought that was exactly what we did do. Like they say, you learn something new everyday.
-
Why, because I am tired of reading your nonsense? If it's liberal fascism to believe your support for Bush and this war is fucking stupid, then guilty as charged.
-
Nope, you've said quite enough.
-
And my respect for you has gone up a few notches. I'm well aware of the history. This isn't the first time I've had this discussion.
-
I'm aware of that. Until now, I didn't realize you meant it.
-
Your a f'ing idiot. It's time for a beer.

They were a harmless country that we had surrounded. Lets not forget who got him started in the first place: So because he violated the rules, 4000 Americans had to die?
-
They wouldn't have sat in a classroom reading My Pet Goat with that dumb look on their faces after being told a second plane hit the WTC. Maybe, when they received the briefing in August that essentially said, this was coming, they might not have ignored it and focused on Iraq, a country that we emasculated. I thought Hillary was wrong then. I was against it from the beginning. Reks, I was all for Afghanistan, but he fucked it up big time. At least John Kerry served this country, unlike the fool we have in there now.
-
And meanwhile, the reason there were not WMD, is because of what was done when Clinton was in office. Iraq was no threat to us. Are you old enough to fight because if so, get your ass over there and then I'll believe that you mean what you just said. I'm not a fan of the UN either but the fact is there were no WMD and the reason is that they were destroyed as a result of the inspections. Just think what we could have done in Afghanistan if we just had a 1/3 of the troops we have in Iraq.
-
I only wish he would fight the war on terror. I hate Bush because he started the war.
-
I wonder if those facts your talking about are the same ones that got us into Irag, 4000 soldiers dead, 30,000 wounded and who knows how many Iraqis dead, some say as many as 655,000. All while Osama is out there and Afganistan is as bad as it was when we went in. Then you don't want this Republican party because govenment is bigger, you have less privacy, and unless you are very wealthy, you taking home less of that hard earned money. You got my vote.
-
That's right, she is the cause of everything that's happened in the last 7 years. Believe me, I'm not a fan but I would take a hundred Pelosi's in Congress if I could get rid of one Bush. I would blindfolded pick someone out of a phone book and substitute them for Bush and things couldn't be as bad as they have been. Who knows, maybe all that's going on today is working out for you. I know I make more money today than I did 7 years ago but I recognize I am one of the lucky ones. I'm also willing to give some of that up to help some others.
-
It is but it didn't have to be as sick and sad.
-
I'm very sorry to hear that.
