  1. I'm not as much concerned about impedance as I am with sensitivity. Where are you guys finding specs for the Livewires? I must have missed them if they're on the site.

Finally someone hit the spot ;) It's not the impedance what makes phones to reproduce electronics hissing, but the sensitivity. By adding a resistor you obvioulsy increase the impedance, but you're also decreasing the power delivered, hence decreasing the sensitivity.

In any case I wouldn't use any custom ear canal molds unless really forced to use hearing aids for becoming deaf.

  2. I'm guessing that they let him have his way so that they don't have to hear him laugh his evil laugh.

Quite possilble. I'd probably pay for not having to hear his evil-f***-laugh.

Edipis, I didn't like the V3 very much, I preferred my ole V2. Not heard the V8 yet, but don't have much interest to be honest.

  3. Gob Bluth FTW! ;D

I'm studying Mechatronics Engineering. So, that automatically makes me an engineer too. :D

Can I join Steal(th) Co.? Afterall, you need 3 members too if you're gonna compete with that other company.

Fantastic, join the gang, the more members the merrier. We can shill better and get more sales ;D

  4. Stereophile added the Predator to their ongoing "500 Recommended Components" list - revealed in the October '08 issue. Along with the MF X-CAN V8.

So an enthusiastic review from Sam Tellig qualifies a product for inclusion in this list? :palm:

Didn't you read my reply at the X-Cans V8 thread? He's got a lot of power inside Stereophile. Bunch of morons OMG :palm:

  5. That's very kind of you indeed. We'll see when the meeting dates are disclosed, our holidays time is more by these dates -we're on holidays now-, but knowing the dates for advanced enough... it could be. I like cats, my wife not much, but I guess she could bear with them for a couple of days ;D

  6. That's it!

ooohhh.....I have a white lab coat, too (won't say why) and I can look the part of a professional engineer in something lab-like. Aren't you a doc? That should more than impress when slapping your name and credentials on "scientific" studies.

Sure, I have several white coats, even a nice badge with my pic. Really serious stuff. I could wear one of these on my front:

Not really much engineering stuff, but impressive nevertheless.

  7. Jacob was referring to Toledo, Ohio. I've only heard a few tales so I'll let him describe its wonders. ;)

Still, Madrid is better than Toledo (Spain). I've never been to Milwaukee so really can't comment on it. I definitely prefer a warmer climate. Come out to the next CanJam (or whatever they decide to call it) and work out a visit with my wife and I. Of course, I've also invited Contrastique and her boyfriend so it might get a bit crowded. Still, the more the merrier.

Toledo, Ohio must be an inhabitable place indeed, rumors have arrived to Spain :P Not kidding, seriously, someone told me about it.

Thanks a lot for the invite :D Be careful, we might accept it ;)

  8. We can go into business together! Though Topedo and Boom Industries might need a name change.

OK then, you're the MOT, I'm the shill, both engineers, so we can publish our own scientific studies about the excellence of our products... In a couple of months we might buy this whole site.

  9. It's still better than the Toledo that Jacob was referring to. A lot better! ;)

I take it you live in Madrid from your post?

    ...

Does he know a different Toledo in Spain? If it's worse than that, now I know why I don't know of it ;D

Yep, we're living in Madrid. Not a city I'd recommend to live in nowadays.

In the USA I remember Milwaukee as a very lovely town where I wouldn't mind to live. Probably too cold in the winter, we went there in July and wasn't as hot as Chicago :palm: However my favorite city in the US is San Francisco. Not that I know the whole country at all, but among the places I've been there, SFO looks like one of the nicest places to live in.

  10. sound cards cannot add enough fundamentals to generate the same quality square wave that even $.10 IC can.

Fundamentals? Any 16/44.1 card should create a rather perfect 10KHz fundamental sine wave. The problems come from the harmonics that a perfect square wave has, which are above the 20KHz limit of 16/44.1 digital.

  11. LOL too hot in the summer, quite cold in the winter, much humidity for the river being very close, street climbing to go anywhere... The best thing is that by AVE -high speed train- you can go to Madrid in about 20 minutes, were you sick of living in a really small town.

  12. Oh, you're forgetting that university research that Virtual Dynamics did! You know, the one where the "researchers" couldn't figure out why they couldn't do a 10khz square wave with a computer sound card.

I suppose they were just using a 16/44.1 capable card, otherwise they could have managed to generate such signal... or not? What frequency do reach the higher harmonics of a 10KHz square wave?

  13. Let's see how it works the damn orthographic corrector... kind of perfect. I had some difficulties to get the US version installed, the damn Mozilla site always wanted me to download a Spanish version, even tried the Argentinian one LOL

Grawk, I find utmost interesting your comment about the O2 needing a KGBH or KGSS to be "better" than the PS-1. Supposing you feed the O2 with such an expensive amp, in what things do you think the O2 is superior to the PS-1 and on what ones is the PS-1 still better? I kind of guess the answer, but provided I haven't tried the O2 and my experience with Stax HP is limited, I'd enjoy reading your opinion.

Regarding the HP-2 vs PS-1 comparison... I can agree the HP2 is superior in neutrality and frequency response balance, but I don't think it's more resolving, spacious, dynamic or fun. I like both nonetheless ;D

  14. No, cans providing some fun are "fun". They are only funny if they also tell jokes or look strange. :P So the correct usage in the sense you meant is "PS-1s are more fun than DBs". Don't worry, most everybody understood what you meant.

Oooops, I have to tell some English teacher I had. He was spanish though

Shoot, I don't even know the word for funny in Spanish. What I do know is really Mexican and it's mostly food words.

This is the source of my confussion. In Spanish we have the noun "diversi

  15. Hahahaha, funnily enough my intention was to mean funnier, because on my limited English skills, I understand that cans providing some fun are funny, so the ones providing more fun should be funnier. Is that right?

I appreciate indeed your interest correcting my mistakes, it'd be great that everybody here did the same. I'd learn a lot to express myself better, which is quite important dealing with smart people as prone to play upon words as HC's population ;D

    Rgrds

  16. Thanks for correcting the uncle mistake on the quote. It wasn't a typo :palm:

I don't know either, but it's quite likely the german distributor had something to say about the result and gave some directions. Be as it may, definitely the PS-1 don't have the same John Grado sound of other models.
