April 14, 201610 yr comment_726979 http://imgur.com/a/kjM7R I ordered this guitar almost a year ago. They finally came in in ... January/February? We've been going back and forth on pickups until finally I said fuck it, just send me the guitar stock. He shipped it with the pickups included, but taken out, no strings, and a chip. I think it's been sitting like this for the last month or so, because apparently the guy only reads his email once a week or something. I think it's torqued. And bowed. I'm never dealing with this asshole again. Report
April 14, 201610 yr comment_726984 Is it a PRS? It looks like the neck isn't adequately flat and straight. Is that what you mean by torqued and bowed? or does it have more problems? It will need to adjust intonation too. What a mess. Is the nut made of plastic? Report

April 14, 201610 yr comment_726987 Yes, it's a PRS SE Custom 24/7-string. Torqued is when it has a slight helical twist to it; bowed is when it has a slight arc to it. It has a lot to do with the fact that it isn't strung or "set up" (mostly truss rod adjustment, but setup also includes other things, like adjustment of the bridge height and intonation). Strings put an expected tension on the neck which compensates for some amount of bowing and torquing. The problem is without stringing it up, I have no way of knowing if stringing it up will solve the problem, but if I'm not going to keep it, I don't feel like bothering. He has agreed to take it back, so there's that...and he's sending a new one, so IMHO, he's taking care of it. I't's really hard to tell from the pictures, since the best way to see the problem is to sight along the neck, and the camera refuses to focus on everything at once. It's subtle. It's probably recuperable, but I just don't feel like dealing with it. Dude needs some serious training in "presentation" and PR. Report
April 14, 201610 yr comment_726990 you probably need to stop down your lens to something like 5.6 or 8 to get full depth why not string it up and see what happens ...? Report
April 14, 201610 yr comment_726995 Because I don't feel like wasting the string set on a guitar that he's already told me he'll be issuing a return tag on. Also, because I have anger management issues. Which are exacerbated by people. Report
April 15, 201610 yr comment_727023 I'm not sure how much does one of those guitars is, but for the kind of money I'm guessing, he should deliver them much much better, properly stringed, intonated and in perfect shape. That's no ex-demo or second hand refurbished stuff Report
April 15, 201610 yr comment_727026 Exactly, though it's the principal, not the money. I hinted to him exactly the same thing that once he got it back, he could probably get away with selling it as a demo. Report
April 15, 201610 yr comment_727090 As you say, it's not about the money, it's about the supposed prestige a firm like PRS has grown over the years. He cannot deliver a premium guitar like that if he wants to keep it. For crap guitars at a premium price we already have plenty of Gibson, Fender, Epiphone, Ibanez, Martin, etc to choose from. Nothing is as it used to be anymore Report

May 14, 201610 yr comment_730087 Well that's just silly Background -- on top of looking like a shoop -- there's a whole controversy surrounding 24 fret vs 22 fret guitars -- there is a whole school of thought who feel that the optimal placement for the neck pickup is at the 24th fret (and they're not wrong...but only because it's entirely subjective, not because of their usual stated reasons), hence 22 fret guitars, but with 24 fret guitars, they usually try to place the neck pickup as close to the neck as possible. Eastwood Custom ^ are not even trying. Report

I finally got the replacement guitar this week, and he included the strap this time, but he put it in the pocket where the packet with the cable, tools, extra springs, etc. are, and that packet was missing. June 11, 201610 yr comment_732424 anyone ever play on a richlite fretboard? i dont know how i feel about the idea of it. Report
June 11, 201610 yr comment_732430 ^I haven't tried it but my guess of it is being a similar feel to the Fender's varnished fretboards. Report
June 11, 201610 yr comment_732434 Nope, sorry. Curious what it would do to the sound. The Parkers I have are a mixture of epoxy, glass, and carbon, and they're my favorites, so there's that. Report
June 11, 201610 yr comment_732440 i read a youtube comment somewhere that it contributes to a squishy attack. Definitely a desirable trait, I just don't know how true it is. The 2016 sg supreme looks really enticing. There is also at least half a dozen normal fretboarded guitars I want really bad. I dont know. Report
June 11, 201610 yr comment_732466 this is the coolest color i've ever seen. i just bought one similar to this, with white single coils. Report

June 12, 201610 yr comment_732505 Sure thing. I'm going to the beach in a week and when I get back I'm ordering a new amp. (Sold the last one a little while back to pay bills) I should have the guitar by Tuesday I think. But no amp until I get back. Small box 50 or zwreck, I think. Report
June 12, 201610 yr comment_732508 Yeah, it'd have to be on the weekend the way my schedule currently is, so I'll wait 'til you get back. Report
