March 8, 201412 yr remake of cosmos on fox sunday nights produced by Seth McFarlane staring Neil deGrasse Tyson promises to be 13 episodes of pure eye candy
March 8, 201412 yr I re-watch the old series so much, it will be interesting to see what they do.. (hope it is full of good science) ... side note - Brian Cox - makes some of my fav science shows these days.
March 10, 201412 yr Just finished the first episode.. I did really like it. That animations was a interesting story telling method. Will be looking forward to the other episodes.
March 10, 201412 yr I also liked the first episode. The visuals in this one are on a totally different lever as compared to the Sagan version, which is to be expected. The scientific content also seemed to be quite a bit lighter, but it was only the first episode so I'll be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Ballsy to go after the church like that right off the bat.
March 10, 201412 yr Very enjoyable. Did a great job staying true to the original vision that made Cosmos so successful the first go around: the connection between us humans and the universe.
March 14, 201412 yr Got a good laugh out of this on Ars this morning: Oklahoma station drops evolution from showing of Cosmos http://arstechnica.com/science/2014/03/oklahoma-station-drops-evolution-from-showing-of-cosmos/
March 17, 201412 yr Good episode last night. Compared to Sagan's episode on selection with the "warrior crabs" and the staged ancient japanese battle, NdGT's version is a little more down to earth. Its fun to see both not as competing, but as compliments to each other. NdGT is much more relatable whereas Sagan's high-mindedness really gave majesty to the ideas he was presenting. Really enjoying this new one.
April 5, 201412 yr (...) NdGT is much more relatable whereas Sagan's high-mindedness really gave majesty to the ideas he was presenting. Really enjoying this new one. I am also enjoying this new one. I know it is the spaceship of imagination, but I did not like two narrative licenses: 1) view under the perspective of a unicellular organism; 2) manned space travel to a black hole with conscious registries up event horizon and beyond...
