August 22, 20224 yr comment_891762 Wrapped up the flip cart, now time to start on the Rocking chair Adirondacks for the new fire pit platform down by the lake. Edited August 22, 20224 yr by VPI Report
August 25, 20224 yr comment_891927 This weekend’s project jumped in front of the chairs. Cousin’s baby came early so making a gift that would be strange for anyone but a cattle farmer and large animal vet. Even incorporated the Dad’s cattle brand at the top. Since many of you are city slickers, this is supposed to be an ear tag for cattle. Report
August 25, 20224 yr comment_891961 Damn, 2x8 cedar rough sawn, $75 a stick. Did Putin cause this? I am going to have $4k Adirondack chairs. Report

August 26, 20224 yr comment_891972 I could get by with thinner sticks, but he uses cedar 2x material for the design I am following. Report
August 27, 20224 yr comment_892098 Finished the baby ear tag sign but they want me to make the rainbow poplar gray now. Any input from the masses on the best/easiest way to do that? Edited August 27, 20224 yr by VPI Report
August 27, 20224 yr comment_892116 Don’t put to much clamping pressure on end grain boards when glueing inlays. Report
August 27, 20224 yr comment_892120 I would probably pay more for that one than a normal rectangle. Edited August 28, 20224 yr by VPI Report

August 28, 20224 yr comment_892136 Well, this is going to cause some delays on the Rocking Adirondacks. Going to have to either wait for another 6 Tpi blade or use the shitty Festool jigsaw. Report
August 28, 20224 yr Author comment_892147 To the theme of Sesame Street... "Shitty Festool jigsaw" One of these words is not like the others. One of these words just doesn't belong. One of these words is not like the others. Tell me now, can you guess which one? Edited August 28, 20224 yr by swt61 Report
August 28, 20224 yr comment_892150 If I end up having to go jigsaw, I will go to Home Depot and buy an upgrade anyway. Report

August 28, 20224 yr Author comment_892152 I'm not sure it'd classify as an upgrade to most, but my favorite jigsaws are from Bosch and Makita. I'd recommend a barrel grip style for curves. Report
August 28, 20224 yr comment_892156 At least with the bandsaw down I finally took the time to replace the crappy euro guides with the crappy murican ones. Report
August 28, 20224 yr comment_892157 I can't get the seriously crappy Harbor Fright bandsaw here in Michigan to hold a blade, no matter how many times I have tried. The tires are tired and I have a hard time rationalizing replacing parts on a piece of shit. That said, the crappy Craftsman 6" jointer released its magic smoke the other day and stopped working. But with encouragement I ordered a new start up capacitor and expedited shipping for twice the price of the part to resuscitate it. No change with the new cap, so another tool is headed for you scrap heap. Report
August 28, 20224 yr Author comment_892158 In an odd way that may have been a good thing. I've known a few people who've been injured from old, badly maintained power tools. Report
August 28, 20224 yr comment_892177 Al, this guy near me is clearing out his shop of decent Grizzly stuff, you can get your jointer and bandsaw all in the same trip. If I could figure out how to fit that jointer in my one garage space wood shop I would probably grab it. Report
August 28, 20224 yr Author comment_892178 It looks brand new! Grizzly makes a decent tool. However, I see them new online for $1,995.00. Edited August 28, 20224 yr by swt61 Report
August 28, 20224 yr comment_892181 Thanks for the tip, Jeff, but the distance and truck rental and other impediments make it too much work and expense. There are a couple of used jointers near me but I'm not too excited about them and they are asking too much for them. Report
August 28, 20224 yr comment_892195 For those concerned I might be stuck using the shitty Festool jig saw, I found a blade that I must have ordered with my Resaw King from Laguna. 1/4” 6 TPI Shear Force. Much better cuts than the cheap 3/16” 4tpi I had been running. The new guides are also so much easier to setup and maintain than the Euros. Al, I see a ton of nice woodworking tools up in that part of Michigan. I think there is a 60HH and a Jet 6” helical up there somewhere that keeps showing up in my feed. August 28, 20224 yr comment_892206 I wonder how someone is supposed to pull out 2x4 sfs cedar in this Home Depot. They seem to be guarding it. Report
