archosman Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 Any suggestions on how to properly clean out a battery compartment that had a minor battery leak? There's not much residue, but was curious what my best options are.
Salt Peanuts Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 Acetone, maybe? The only time I've had to clean a battery compartment, I took the compartment out of the item, so I just washed it out and let it dry for few days.
Pars Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 Acetone might be a bit much for this. I'm not sure what you can use that would neutralize the crap from the batteries... I would clean it out as best you can. Maybe wipe it out with some alcohol or something once you have it pretty clean. I would also take something like DeOxit or contact cleaner and clean the metal contact parts.

What you do many depends on whether it was an alkaline or acid battery that spilled and it's unclear which it was by your description.
