My earphones suddenly made a cracking sound and afterwards it did not produce sound. Why???

Those earphone were expensive. (In my opinion.)

Why did it happen anyway?

Welcome to head-case.

Uh...doubt anyone can tell you why with that little info. You either damaged them or they were faulty or both. Contact Phillips and see about a repair or replacement.

What were you doing to the earphones at the time of their emitting a cracking sound ?

i can't bring myself to be sympathetic because my Thiels exploded.

Come on you cold fuck, those earphone were expensive. >:(

Diagnosis: your ears are broken, get new ones.

My guess, based on the information given, is that your symptoms are consistent with pulling the headphone jack out of its socket. This would produce noise followed by silence. The cure for this one is easy: plug the headphone back in.

If that's wrong, why don't you try giving whatever information that you have?

What is the complete system that you are using? What tests have you done to test which components of your system are working? If you use an amp, does it still power on? Does it work with other headphones? Does your source power up? Do the headphones work with another source (if available)? yadda yadda yadda...

You have more information than you posted, or you can get it, but you need to think through what it might be. If you post no information about the problem, you'll get silly answers if you get anything at all.
