I'm wondering if i should look up this deal Grado sr60 / sr80 headphones for ipod zune audiophile mp3 music player, and what i might look for to find out which Grado they are. It's been 3 years since i last heard and SR60, so it's not like i would be able to immediately compare.

without the button, they look identical. lucky for you, with the same pads, they are identical.

the SR-80s i owned had a mini plug, just like the SR-60s (i'm serious, they are the same phones).

Weird...all the SR-80s I have seen had a 1/4" connector.

The SR-80 I had, had a 1/8" jack.

mine came with an xlr plug...

Grado doesn't seem to agree with you. maybe they've changed over the years, i don't know.

Weird. My friend has and SR-80 with a 1/4" connector and his headphones are at least eight or nine years old. Same termination with the SR-80 I auditioned in the store around that time.

they must have changed them, then. the SR-80 might have used to have been a slightly different headphone, but the current really is just a pair of SR-60s with a different button and different pads. the website suggests that the SR-80 has an upgraded 4 conductor cable, compared to the SR-60, but the two SR-60s i've recabled have had the same 4 conductor cable as the SR-80, so i really think they are identical phones, at least with the current models.

Yeah not surprising about the cable. They're so cheap Grado probably just puts whatever on the SR-60.

From what ive read online these incredible audiophile headphones, with crystal clear and acurate sound.

I like that they weren't actually listened to.
