    Recommend me any and all good DIY speaker resources. I would like to clone an omni -- specifically, the Pioneer CS-06 looks right up my alley. The point in cloning is not just to cut costs, but also because I've heard its sound is suboptimal, and also for fun and education. I'm thinking for starters, I'll want to compartmentalize all the drivers. See, for example, the pictures on this page (about second or third row down). I've already tracked down schematics and a service manual, but I'm thinking of changing the drivers, so I'd have to re-evaluate the crossovers anyway, right? How do I fight the natural resonance of most drivers?

    Yes, I know I have it backwards, but that's intentional -- and the question. Is there a way to modify the ER4s to give it ER4p capability? Say perhaps by splicing it above the resistor and having two plugs, one of 100 ohms, the other of 27 ohms? Or perhaps by putting a resistor in parallel instead of in series? (Not sure why you would do this, unless you really didn't want to throw away that resistor.) And then it would be what, 37 ohms, right? Yes, I am looking at Fitz' ad.

    If you see an LOD plug that looks like this one, you might consider running in the opposite direction. Being the fair-minded guy that I am, I will say that this connector has certain things going for it and if those things are really important to you, you might not brand it a sadistic work of the devil. It's the most compact plug I've seen. The locking barbs work great. And the case itself is relatively easy to assemble. On the other hand... the contacts are staked in place. You can't pull out the ones that you don't want that are in the way. You have have to bend the pins that are adjacent to the ones you want out of the way to make any room to work at all…

    Im making this for my friend who is deaf in one ear. Its my first time making one of these and i would like to confirm that the wiring would be as follows IL1 IL2 IG IR1 IR2 on the input side then on the output side would be OL1 OR1 OG OL2 OR2? Sorry to ask such a newbie question but i would really like to make this work for him so that he can enjoy good music.

    So I hate 99.9% of headsets on the market because the headphone portion is always uncomfortable as all hell, and the ones that aren't uncomfortable are huge HD650 style. So I have an uncomfortable ass folding headset thing from Plantronics and a pair of PortaPros I plan on combining. I've done some work so far but this seems like it will be almost too simple of a mod. The PortaPros have that random screw hole that does nothing on the left side and the Plantronics mic is on the left side of that headset with a pivot point. So far I demolished the Plantronics headset and got the mic out of it unscathed. I took the tiny screw out of the side of the PortaPros …

  8. Keeping in mind Kevin Gilmore's design rules i have insomnia about stabilizing common mode of JFET input stage without sacrificing CMRR or straight referencing it to the amplifier/source ground. So, check attached schematic. While keeping straightforward signal flow aka "Gilmore's gesign rule" it also have second control loop which helps SuSy amps to maintain output common mode near ground potential.

    I have a strange question. I'm running to an issue paralleling four 2SK170/2SJ74 JFETs where the noise from the degeneration resistors is something I'd like to overcome. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a scheme where at most a single sources resistor is used (i.e. all the sources are tied together before this) and some sort of a a servo arrangement is used. I'm looking for a way to avoid super tightly matched devices as well. I understand the scheme used in the Xono and say the Vendetta phonostages, as well as a number of the Borbely designs, but these aren't exactly what I want. Feedback is acceptable as well.
