What are you EATING right now?
There's another Reks on different thread, who said these made him feel sick. I think you have an impersonator. Or perhaps Multiple Personality?

Eeew. Does that mean you have to inject yourself?

So, with not too much of a stretch, Cincinatti is Cambodia, and Jerry Springer is Pol Pot?

What did you do today?
Sauerkraut on brats = yum! Never got into it until I met my wife; she grew up in small town Wisconsin, and they ate almost as much of that, as I ate rice growing up.

GM audio engineer lists Top 10 songs to test your car's stereo
Looks like a good list of songs to try out your Monster Dre Beats or whatever it is. And what happened to 'pussywillow'? I miss that guy!

Reks, you're right. They weren't supposed to put it on their laptop. They broke VA policy by doing it- two or three separate times by different people at different VA's. So the response was to clamp down on computer security on all of us nationwide.

Yes, iPod Touch. There's an app that makes it easily control iTunes on a Mac via wifi. Is it just called Remote? I think there's a couple of options there. There's several people here that use it that way, I'm sure they can help.

I know it essentially uses laptop parts, but can't recall all the details. That's readily available on the net. I think most people use it as an AV server. I have a friend who uses it as his main music source using Apple Lossless with an Ayre DAC and loves it. He uses a Touch as a remote. He says it's a great system, and it was easy to set up. Haven't seen or heard the system myself, but he knows his stuff, I trust him.

Sorry, I should have said - I am running parallels and am very happy with it! Regarding our vpn - it is, in fact, cisco, but the web site with the officially sanctioned software we are allowed to use does not list any mac compatible versions. It also stated very clearly that no other software is allowed, and could, in fact, be against Federal law, and we will come after your first born, cut off your privates, etc... I actually emailed them and left voicemails asking for a Mac version of the vpn, and got the usual response ... {crickets chirping} .... silence ... no response. When I actually got a human being, I was told that I wasn't even allowed to access the system off site at all, so what are you talking about? I told him I got the Windows version vpn software from the official VA web site w/ instructions included, so it must be allowed. He said to not say anything more, otherwise he'd have to come after me, and he didn't want to do that. I said thank you, and hung up. I do know that the DOD uses different software than the one we use for the VA hospitals, making it impossible for us to access any health records created during their military time. They are trying to merge the systems, but neither side wants to back down to make the switch to the other. There's excess security regarding computers at the VA's right now, because there have been several incidents of employees nationwide walking home with VA laptops containing HIPAA protected info on them (against VA policy), then having them stolen, and thus losing several million HIPAA protected Vet's names/ssn's/diagnosis, etc... Seems unrelated to what I want to do, but hey, does that matter? Your Federal tax dollars at work ...

Not sure about other upgrades, I added RAM. I've read opening it up won't void the warranty, but any damage you do while in there won't be covered. Didn't look into other upgrades, but I remember seeing links about various DIY upgrades including hard drive, so it's probably doable.

I have the previous gen one, and like it quite a bit. It runs well, and is tiny, tiny, tiny - such a nice thing in my not so spacious office space. The current gen is cooler in a few ways, but I need the security lock since it's in my office waiting room. Kind of a pain opening it up to do upgrades, though. I use it as my main office desktop and it's been fine. I'm sure I don't use half the features it has, but it's the cheapest in the lineup and it still is more than I needed. It's my first Mac, have had it for a few months, and have been happy. No glitches to speak of, just the usual learning curve of a new OS, and even then, it's been pretty painless. The biggest complement I can give it is that I don't think about it much, it just works. I was in the Office Depot yesterday looking around, and I was thinking if I should get this or that new Microsoft utility to make it run faster/more stable, and I just didn't have the need to think about that for the Apple.

TUFKAAT - similar issue. I'm in healthcare, and have billing software that only runs on Windows. Also, I work part time for the Federal Gov't, and they have VPN client software which only runs on Windows.

What are you listening to Part Two
I always wonder how much this influences how much I like an artist. For example, Diana Krall ... seems to do less for me since she married Elvis, but then maybe her music suffered? I did hear a really nice version of the Bruch Violin Concerto while driving a few years ago, good enough that made a mental note of the violinist's name. When I looked her up later, I discovered she's not terrible to look at, either. But at least I know I liked her playing before I knew what she looked like! Discography was small, and had mixed reviews, though, at the time. Janine Jansen | Gallery Reminds me ... I need to see if there are more releases ... Well, you never know. Maybe it was Jack Benny ...

Mighty Sam McLain, Blues For The Soul. SACD. Favorite dead violinist? Heifetz?

Hilary Hahn rocks! I have her doing the Bach partitas, and she's awfully impressive! I could use more of her stuff - what are your favorites?

Should I go tankless?
Great thought! I looked it up, though, and no such luck ... Is there a tax credit for gas, oil, or propane water heaters? Timing: Tax credit in effect in 2009 and 2010. Must be installed in your "principal residence" between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010.

this is so sad....
Good stuff. My favorite is this: 'Using patent-pending HB3Technology

So no Federal Tax credit? Better to go with someone you're comfortable with, though. Thanks, Jim. Let us know how it goes!

Wait a sec, you're in college studying engineering, too? Sounds like two very full time pursuits, my man. Sorry to hear that it's not going to work out, though.

I thought it was funny. Amusing, at least.

Hopefully at ChiLiquiFi! I actually like vegetarian places. Many choices of vegetarian dishes not made as an afterthought. I also think it's probably a little different to date a vegetarian (I was with her for years!) than to have friends who are vegetarian. Or perhaps it was our bad break up ...
