Topolobampo is great high end Mexican, great food but $$$. Frontera Grill also has very good food, less high end, but very good, great margaritas, more casual, but expect a long wait. If you are 'on holiday', then go early before 530p to avoid the wait. Frontera Fresco is Rick Bayless' newest, but it's mostly for lunch - haven't been there, but my wife has, and she liked it a lot. There are so many restaurants at every price level, I'd really need more of an idea what people are looking for! You could go to Alinea for $200 per person and get full blown science-theater presentation food, Charlie Trotter's for the guy who started Chicagos high end fussion/ecclectic dining scene, but also very pricey, there are many great Chicago stuffed and pan pizza - Uno/Due, Gino's are the best known. Again, too much to do and see - can interested out of towners narrow it down a bit?

Is there any interest in some old vinyl for free? Mostly 70's-80's rock, some classical and jazz, some R+B. A few gems, most quite worthwhile but not gems, a few are neither but worth a chuckle. I am finally accepting after all these years that I will not be getting a great vinyl set up. I think this is a group and event that I'd actually feel GOOD about giving away my vinyl. I don't want to go through the effort of boxing and carrying a hundred LP's if no one wants them. But if there is enough interest, I'll be glad to do it. Plus it'll be a great way to meet people for this relative newb. I don't want to buy a vendors table, so this is a free give away. But I am hoping people will consider a voluntary donation of $1 to $10 per disc to HC, depending on condition/market value. Anyone? Anyone? ...
  4. Opera Mini is the next generation mobile browser for any mobile phone. Been using this on BB for maybe a year and it's great! Much better than the BB browser - faster - much faster, better controls. Takes some getting used to, though - moving trackwheel horizontally scrolls fast a page at a time, while moving trackwheel vertically scrolls slowly, a line at a time.
  5. Just switched to mobile theme on Opera/BB a few days ago and so far works like a dream. Lightning fast and very stable. Everything seems to work great. Thanks!
  6. That looks great! Is that a one time purchase and no subscription fee? IPad would really give you great access to your main PC!
  7. Anyone use LogMeIn pro/basic/ignition? https://secure.logmein.com/US/products/pro2/purchase.aspx It allows you to access your main computer remotely from another computer via browser. The ignition version allows you to access it directly via iPhone/iTouch - presumably would also work for iPad. This might allow you to easily print off your main computer (should anyone actually still print, like me!), and also access any programs at all running on the main computer. Yes, it's another damn monthly/yearly fee, but for $69.95 per year, maybe worth it? Anyone actually use this service currently? Does it seem technically sound and reasonably secure?
  8. I have an old NAD 7240PE, and it does just fine into a good pair of PSB book shelf speakers. Most NAD amps are designed to do really well with peak watts delivered, so for short bursts (which a lot of music is), they do better than you'd think for the RMS power rating.
  9. Would like to join - thanks!
  10. So, basically, nobody prints any more?! Printers ... Soon a relic of the past. Damn, I feel old ...
  11. Is that really why they make it so hard to print?! The tyrant! HPA, thanks for the Print N Share idea. Took a peek, maybe not worth the trouble, though. Are the Saints gonna win this thing? Wow! Trying to minimize the kids watching too much TV, but right now I have the Super Bowl on the big screen, Mulan on the laptop to keep the daughter quiet, and Ben Ten on the little side TV to keep the son busy. I try to save these moves for only the big ones, honest ...
  12. Sure don't - Smiley face - should it have been a wink?
  13. That's what I was afraid of ... but then multitasking is on its way soon! ... )
  14. With the new uses that will likely arise, I'm thinking it would be very useful to be able to print. Is there an EASY way to print off an iTouch, and presumably the iPad? Meaning you click one button, and it prints the doc or page you are working on/viewing?
  15. Yeah, that's pretty bad. I have known psychiatrists named Dr. Couch and Dr. Brilliant, an oncologist named Dr. Mets, and a cardiologist named Dr. Love.
  16. Interesting, maybe this is true. I've been researching web based electronic medical records, and many only support MS Internet Explorer. I found one that offers many platforms, and sent an email asking about developing something for iPad when it comes out and got this response: 'We are working on an app for i-phone and i-pad and hope to have it completed sometime this year. XX runs in Adobe Flash player and unfortunately, neither the i-Phone nor the i-Pad support Flash. If an understanding is not reached between Apple and Adobe to fix this problem we will construct our own app. Thank you'
  17. I'm very interested in hearing impressions when the bridge comes out. I really liked the sound of the PWD w/ its transport when I've heard them at several meets (no real extended listen, though) but wouldn't really want to use it this way. If I make a big change in source at this point, I'd be going the server route.
  18. Standing wave? Reminds me, I've gotta do something about that in my basement ...
  19. Yeah, me too! Class of 83 for high school. Brings back memories, doesn't it? Brothers In Arms is what I think of in 84!
  20. I've been hoping for a BT keyboard forever, and looked as recently as yesterday. Still no go - apparently possible w/ jailbreak, but I can't risk that for my use. I'd read months ago that they didn't want to take away from their tablet sales if they put out a BT keyboard for iPhone/iTouch. My hope is after (if?) the iPad gets established, they'll allow it. But like you said, I'll believe it when I see it ...
  21. Looks promising. I just got an email from Allscripts yesterday, trying to get me to buy their upgraded service. I'll have to check it out - I hope it's better than their free e-Prescribing service. I've been using that, and it's not so great.
  22. Sorry - amazing I'm not banned yet. Be patient, I'm still a 'Limited Edition Bronze Participant.'
  23. Definitely not all, but the majority of the folks I know, at least! I think your Dad is just ahead of the curve ... I know maybe one or two pvt practice folks who switched over, and they tend to be of the 'very wealthy' variety. The majority has been hospitals and of course, the entire VA system where I work part time. Do you know how your Dad's tablet is set up? Networked into his own system vs online vs sync'd at the end of each day? Storage/backup? How much did his software cost? Is he happy with it? Thanks! Looks vaguely familiar ... I think I have one in the closet next to my DBX cassette player. Maybe there is a modem-to-Wifi/Bluetooth adapter kit? )
  24. Yeah, you're probably right. Unfortunately, medical software is traditionally a few generations behind in timing, price, and quality. I was using a DOS based billing program up to a few years ago. Not because there wasn't something else available, but because what was available was outrageously expensive, slow, unstable, or just not any better functioning. Even now, when I demo the online EMR and scheduling sites, they are drab and slow compared to most other productivity sites that I see. I have to say though, that the medical community itself is notoriously slow at adopting new technology, so maybe it's hard to design new, trendy things when your customers refuse to buy in ...
  25. Really? What would you use this for in an iPad device? Seems it would be used more in a laptop or desktop. Just curious ...
