  1. You are actually assuming I was even talking about using a speaker amp to power headphones... Which I'm not! I'm just pointing out the obvious that the TTVJ/307A puts out less power than a high end SPEAKER amplifier and costs just about the same.\ Which is probably my bad since this is really a headphone amplification forum, I'm just used to always comparing headphones to my speaker setup
  2. I'm not commenting on the design, I'm commenting on the PRICE.
  3. I've heard that said about so many amps I'm going to take it with a grain of salt and for $6000 it BETTER be one of if not the best.
  4. Complaining about the price of the 307a, as you know I don't know a ton about these designs but for $6000 you can get some high end speaker tube gear that puts out likely just as clean and WAY more power.
  5. both?! I'm normally very tolerant of ugly functional devices but the FET-A would look better if he didn't bother branding/engraving it.

  7. $6000 you've got to be kidding me
  8. so if I use my sound cards S/PDIF out to a external DAC's S/PDIF in, will the data be DAC'd twice? Once by the sound card and then once again by the external DAC?
  9. sounds good to me off to do more reading!
  10. not much info on HC.... Know a good builder for the buffalo or opus?
  11. hmmm what is this buffalo DAC... searching...
  12. So where can I buy a completed Opus DAC w/USB that is not "extremely" or "very" expensive
  13. used prices seem to float around $1500....
  14. so I forgot to mention I am all about convenience as well... What does HC think of the SlimDevices Transporter?
  15. have a few mac's would rather stay away from firewire
  16. What else should I be looking for if I'll be using a b22 as the headphone amp? My computer is and will likely always be my source.
  17. When you say datasheet examples are you implying that most companies just take an old design and slap newer/more expensive components on?
  18. I definitely have much to learn! I only know blackgates are expensive
  19. I absolutely agree most products are built to a price point, but in general the cars I've bought were built to do one task or another well. Throwing money at it to make it more "sporty" or "luxurious" generally meant that you were making some sort of inverse trade off. However I am a sucker for a product built from the ground up to do a specific task, which is why I have been eyeing the B22 since I had a chance to audition Socrates' Nugget back in late 07/early 08. My real doubt is regarding the Markl mods. His mods seem to be such pardon the jargon "low hanging fruit" that if they truly enhance the headphone in all aspects it's hard to beleive that wouldn't have done something similar in their flagship headphone.
  20. her name is Denon I have yet to see someone wear K1000's on the street what part of Seattle do you hang around
  21. I currently have a X-Fi Elite pro containing the CS4398 DAC which it seems to share in common with headroom's ultra micro DAC. Is this an adequate DAC? Should I look to upgrade? I have a incoming beta22 and a friend mentioned that the sound card dosen't have a proper "line out" to run to the b22. Thoughts?
  22. too bad guys I'm a huge retard Can't wait to get my nugget audio B22 on Friday
  23. Just got them today
  24. haha I see how it is I'll keep my deep personal opinions to myself until we can have spirited discussion over a few beers at a local meet
