  1. That's cool of your shop to give you a good pricing on the C24's, I haven't had much luck with pricing leeway on the bike shops near me. I have the Alchemy hubs on the enve's and they're pretty nice, but availability on the hubs may be limited since they've been closed for the last few months and will be for a few months into 2014. If the builder has them stocked then that's not an issue, but it's still something to keep in mind. I really do like the H Plus Son rims, that anodized brake track looks great even though it'll eventually wear off.
  2. You can try my set of C24's if you want, I like my set (and saved a bunch by buying from the uk).
  3. Yeah, you're 10 speed. The 11 speed ultegra di2 groupset was announced some time after your bike was released. While others run single speed around here, I'm certainly not strong enough to do that for either road or mountain biking. I'm just too weak
  4. I'd suggest re-reading the welcome email.
  5. I did the trainerroad 2 x 8min test. I'm not sure if it's totally accurate because I overshot early on the first 8min stage and eased up towards the end of that interval, but I tested at 175. Last tested at 137 back in October, so I'm fairly happy with that. My own current unhealthy wallet thoughts involve some form of endurance/gran fondo shimano disc brake bike. I really like shimano brakes for mountain and the r785's are essentially detuned XTR brakes.
  6. I'm using the video with TrainerRoad and ANT+ which does basically the same thing as PerfPro. In combination with my wahoo kickr and a newly tested FTP it made for painful first sufferfest.I had a ridiculous twitching cramp on my left calf about a minute into the last stage which made me ease up my cadence; then afterwards, my right calf did the exact same thing as I was clipping out when I was done. If you get the Mavics you better break them in before the event, or else everyone's going to hear you every time you break
  7. Survived my first Sufferfest video today. It seems they live up to their name
  8. Goals: Complete the Tour of Sufferlandria Complete a century (or century+) ride, the two listed by Chris look like a good challenge to train for Do at least one MTB race as a beginner Spring Thaw Series Cranky Monkey Ride the MOCO Epic 50 mile ride (most folks I've talked to have said the metric century is more work than fun, with the 50 mi course being the sweet spot) Improve my 5K run time Possible goal: Friend wants me to run a half marathon in May, but I'm leaning towards focusing on cycling more. Nonetheless, it would be nice to be able to complete the half.
  9. Raynaud's syndrome, maybe?
  10. I was thinking more along the lines of picking our own routes and hotel. The trek page seems to require at least 6 for group pricing, so I'm not sure if we could get a better rate? Did they get back to you regarding a discount for bringing our own bikes?
  11. That sounds like a lot of fun and lowering the cost would be nice. Count me in, that week is clear for me.
  12. I've actually liked full squish more than hardtail in general, but for some of the rides around here a hardtail might simply work better, which is why I haven't ruled it out yet.
  13. Very cool. I'm waffling between a hardtail or a FS trail bike as an upgrade for my current 26er, and that bike sure looks nice
  14. In general, I prefer the Proxxon's build quality over the Dremel...but you should probably go with Nate's solution
  15. Removed the shill's referral link as well...didn't think of that, oops.
  16. So the good news is that people can shill for them even more? How fantastic.
  17. Just got back from a snow ride on the trails. Not too bad, though I had to let air out of my tires to get more grip. I did find out booties weren't enough for the first half of the ride, I'll have to look at some proper winter mtb riding boots.
  18. Unfortunately trainer miles don't count. Not that I thought about doing 80 miles on a trainer...
  19. I'm glad I got my refund processed, that's all I can say
  20. Just noticed the Strava Gran Fondo challenge, anyone want to try for it? Requires 130km done within 24 hours, which sounds doable as long as there's a decent day to ride in Jan...
  21. What's interesting is the last update email I got essentially said "people asked us how to pay for extra shipping costs that they forgot to pay for, so we're doing a second campaign for that purpose", but this new campaign is essentially a duplicate campaign except "we're not going to be actively engaged during this campaign".
