I'm not sure if this is a problem across the board, but I've had more problems uploading to SmugMug than to Flickr through LR3. Whenever I try to upload to SmugMug, it would often timeout, making me repeat the process few times until all photos are updated. This doesn't result in other problems (e.g., duplicates, lost photos) but it's still rather annoying.

So supposedly, it's a wet, heavy snow this time and according to a local news station, a typical shovelful is going to weigh around 20 pounds. Joy.

Backyard. I know it's hard to tell, but there's a good amount of snow on the ground already.

I usually drink mine cold, so that would make it a "cold piss beer."

I must be one of few New Englander (transplanted, of course) that doesn't ski or snowboard.

Both times, they had to run a new cable into the house. They also need to install the ONT box and then it can take a bit as they setup the whole thing. This was compounded by the fact the installers were relatively new as we got FiOS quickly after it became available at both places.

That (work stuff) sucks, Nate. Here's hoping that it won't snow too badly so that your commute will be easy.

Congrats, Birgir! Assuming you're talking about the installation time, when we last had FiOS installed, it took about 6 hours. The first time around (different place), it took about 5 hours.

As for moving to Verizon, I'd wait to see if they'll get iPhone 5 (or whatever the next one will be called) on the same schedule as AT&T, which will most likely be this coming summer - it would blow to get locked into 2-year contract on Verizon only to find new iPhone out 5-6 months later. Also, I'm not sure if this matter to you, but it won't support simultaneous voice & data (unless you're on WiFi).

Probably, with more than few folks trying to minimize the damage from ETF.

^ Regarding call/sound quality? I haven't noticed any issues with mine, though my usage is probably atypical compared to today's market (i.e., really, really, really low minutes) so that may have something to do with it. Speaking of good cell phone, I still miss my Startac.

It shouldn't, as Verizon's network is on completely different from the one AT&T uses. I'm wondering how many folks will move over to Verizon now. I won't be doing that as I'm still in a middle of a contract with AT&T (of course, this happens only six months or so after I switch over from Verizon) though I've personally have had no issues with AT&T network/coverage.

I just saw the price on the knife and I'm surprised to find that it's really reasonably priced. I guess I'm just used to the crazy prices I saw on custom folders and fixed blades from few years back. Speaking of which, I need to get another EDC.

The forecast is ~14 inches here. No work for me tomorrow since they decided make us take a vacation day if we were working at school tomorrow (I work at a private residential school for kids with special needs).

You're right - I was thinking about new price for 17-40 and wasn't looking at the used market.

Tell me about it. My biggest roadblock is the need to replace 10-22 with 17-40, which is more money.

^ If you don't need/care for the bells and whistles (which may not be the case since you stated you love T2i's video), VPI's selling his 5D w/ grip for a nice price here. I probably would have gone for 5D (or at least tried one out) back when I bought my 50D if the used price on 5D was as low as it is now. Too bad 50D's resale value has gone down the tube of late.

Made a phone call to hospital in regards to some insurance issues expecting it to be an unpleasant experience. Much to my surprise, the person on the other end was courteous and the conversation couldn't have been more pleasant.
