  1. anyone know where to buy the hello kitty spinning light toy?
  2. 500 volts at 2ma is 1 watt, and on my board with the on board heatsinks, there is enough heatsink to limit the heat on the part, and therefore the drift. The off board versions should have even more heatsinking. The 10m90s has less voltage swing, but is more stable with respect to temperature.
  3. If the west coast (usa) stax mafia can do it, you can too. Only 3 projects are planned for 2012. (well maybe 4)
  4. Got the wish you were here sacd yesterday, dropped everything else to listen to it. Just amazing. Lots of stuff that was never audible now comes thru with clarity.
  5. The idea with everything including the very stable power supply is to set the thing once after about an hour of warmup, and likely never touch it again. 10 to 20 volts of offset for electrostatics is nothing. My T2 stays at -13 volts and its just too much work to open it up and adjust it. Has not drifted in 2 years. This amp is no T2. But it is pretty close, and about 15% of the parts cost. A hybrid T2 output stage with a solid state front end is next.
  6. Remember that O+ and O- are now flipped, so wire accordingly to maintain absolute phase. new board layout has both items fixed.
  7. The 2ma is the target number. Anything within 10% is more than enough. The 1.2k should be just fine. If you have lots of heatsinking you can increase the third stage current. Which increases the high end frequency response a bit. I have fixed this board layout and will upload files later.
  8. Actually 1350 ohms for those particular parts would be right on the money.
  9. Sure enough, the feedback is flipped. Not sure how i missed that one. Easiest way to fix it is to cross the 2 x 50k resistors. Or cross the 2 x 1n914 diodes. Someone with fresh eyes needs to check this. This is for the off board heatsink boards.
  10. Need to test the current sources and adjust them to 2ma each. Then the rest should be easy unless there is a major mistake in the circuit board. (like flipped feedback) Need to check more, maybe later today.
  11. that is the correct orientation. change out the 1.2k resistors in the current sources for 2k resistors which should lower the current enough so that we can figure out what else may be wrong. these current sources may have a broader cutoff voltage range than the 10m90s.
  12. The boards are designed the same as the T2 boards. So if you mount the transistors from the top of the board, you bend the pins back and stuff into the board. If you mount the transistors on the bottom of the board, you bend the pins forward and stick thru the board.
  13. Someone needs to check the layout of the ixys current source parts on both kgsshv amp boards, andy is having trouble, and i think there may be a problem. I'm moving one of my labs today, so i don't have much time. Edit: the board sure looks right, the drain connects to B+.
  14. The coupler is a stock part at mouser, all you have to do is drill out one end.
  15. ROUND is a shape!
  16. nothing usable but here are the numbers from the circuit board which is 11.950 x 16.00 There is .1 inch between the front of the circuit board and the inside of the chassis. From the front center of the circuit board, in inches +1.900,+2.575 +5.465,+2.575 +12.150,+2.500 +13.950,+2.500 +1.900,-2.575 +5.465,-2.575 +12.150,-2.500 +13.950,-2.500
  17. I was not planning on doing the phono stage. Seems a bit silly as i have not played an lp in 16 years. The input board will be all balanced inputs. If you need an unbalanced input you can use the rca to xlr adapters.
  18. So the thing has morphed a bit. And i like it, there is a board rev 0 that needs a fair amount more work. Its currently 6.5 x 3.6 inches, but i will be able to shrink it a bit. The original blowtorch was a bit sensitive to load impedance, and did not like driving 50 ohm loads (100 ohm balanced) So i fixed that. The original was unbalanced input only too. I also fixed that. The result is a balanced dynalo style setup. 2 choices of feedback, super symmetry or the john curl feedback. The two sound a bit different. Turns out super symmetry depending on how you view the "utility" of the patent is actually to feb 4, 2014 2 choices of power supply, +/-15 or +/-20 the later has slightly lower distortion. 2 choices of inputs, bipolar or fet. The bipolar results in a lower input impedance, but otherwise identical performance. bipolar part available from mouser. Singles versions of the fets available wherever you can find them. Wider range servo to accomodate the bipolar input parts. For the unbalanced to balanced version, you have a choice of .5x or 1x (unbalanced/balanced) or 1x/2x For the output amp version you have a choice of 5x or 10x output amp drives 32 ohm headphones in balanced mode if that is what you want to do. mates perfectly with the step attenuator board. So there will be a 100% mouser sourced version.
  19. wow, so it actually does fit. you really only need ceramics on the outside 2 transistors.
  20. http://www.thatcorp.com/300-series_Matched_Transistor_Array_ICs.shtml its the only thing that is not stupidly priced, and is ultra low noise, and in stock at mouser. Otherwise a pair of the analog devices parts is something like $40 per channel. if i'm clever enough i can make the new board take both fets and this chip.
  21. I'm tired of waiting on linear systems, and have found a suitable part for the front end. Bipolar, 2 x pnp and 2 x npn all on one substrate. Reasonably priced and less than 2 nv/roothz noise. input impedance won't be as high, but should otherwise work great. sample parts on the way.
  22. its all super low in carbs right??
  23. That makes sense. Wrong, but makes sense.
  24. A package arrived today with these items in it, sender unknown http://gilmore.chem....du/dsc_2310.jpg i'm afraid of the stuff in the plastic bags.
