  1. Shakespeare had something to say about that: "But lust, though to a radiant angel linked, will sate itself in a celestial bed and prey on garbage" Hamlet's father's ghost.
  2. Mine sleep on my amp because it is warm. Every now and again I have to take the lid off and vacuum out the fur.
  3. Jeeze Reks. Had no idea. Really seriously hope you are OK.
  4. Knopfler is from my original neck of the woods in the north of England in Newcastle. He's lost a lot of his accent now, with only hints remaining. Like the slide guitar tubes "me dad" made. He bought his first guitar from Windows music shop in the late 60's. Just missed being there, working as a Saturday sales guy in 1972 at the tender age of 16. https://www.jgwindows.com/
  5. Happy birthday!
  6. Designed by Nelson Pass in consultation with the late great Siegfried Linkwitz. Just spotted I already said that way up this thread
  7. Have a truly great day!
  8. Wow - you forget that people grow old. Donald Moffatt - he was about my age when he filmed Clear and Present Danger.
  9. That is a good end to what could have been something very nasty. Shows that there are good guys out there in the US police force.
  10. Does he stop the grandfather clock collection when he's listening to music? And even if stopped what about the chime resonating? I went so far as to use a swept sine in my room to identify what was in there ringing along to the music. And moved offending items to another room. From Nelson Pass's description of a monster transmission line subwoofer "Funny things happen when your speakers are flat to 13 Hz. You have to be careful about your tone arm, your windows, your neighbors, and your bowels." Article here http://www.firstwatt.com/pdf/art_elpipeo.pdf
  11. The thing that is going to replace it, El Capitan, apparently will have 10-100 times the speed and computing power of that. So North of 1 exaflop (10^18 floating point ops per second), consume 50MW of power. And it will produce the answer 42.
  12. Have a great one! Happy birthday!!
  13. I've a vague recollection from my childhood that F-troop was on the TV in the UK. That Addams Family and the Munsters definitely were.
  14. There was an excellent eulogy by one of our ex Prime Ministers, John Major. On the Radio 4 current affairs Today programme. He got to know Bush very well when they overlapped as PM and President. Even when they were long out of power, Major and his wife used to visit on a regular basis, including several times over the last couple of years when Bush was really ill. He made the point that Bush's political philosophy was to have political adversaries, but never to see them as enemies. The comment above is a perfect example of that in practice. One of an alas older generation of WWII active service politicians the like of which we won't see again. RIP George W Bush
  15. Neat. Alternatively build one out of Ikea bits https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/508766089133499234/
  16. Oh man - when my kids were young SpongeBob was a watching ritual with dad. 57 - that really sucks.

Men Dicks behaving badly with some cars. I'll still watch it though. Dunno where that analogy is going.....
  18. Yeesh - what happens in a crash? If that guy is rear ended they will break loose and bam, smack him right in the kisser. Always assuming it is a bloke that is.
  19. Jeeze - no words are adequate.
  20. Honey - I shrunk the room.
  21. Oh heavens above - 26. That is truly heart wrenching. Condolences for the loss.
  22. They are all the better when made with fresh shepherd
  23. That is truly awful Wayne and Antonio. What dreadful, dreadful news.
  24. When I was in my early 30's I came within a hairs breadth of having an affair with a work colleague. And I mean absolutely a hair's breadth. Both of us married. Stepped back from the brink, and if we/I hadn't, life would have worked out really differently. We're still in occasional contact, and meet up when we are in each other's cities for a pub lunch, so we ended up as friends. But, Dusty - you have nothing to beat yourself up about here. With all the signals you were undoubtedly subconsciously radiating, she had every opportunity to mention her marital status. That she said she'd check her diary indicates she was certainly interested in the prospect of joining you for Thanksgiving. And then decided against it, and only then mentioned why.
