  1. Dude they don't visit the east coast I have friends that have went to a few of their San Fran shows and said they rock. Wata = dreamy. I can't even place a genre tag on them with how much they change their sound album to album. Drone/sludge is pretty consistent description of their older albums...or any of their Merzbow colabs
  2. Right. The other pain in the ass is they're power amps, fooling with preamps is not something I want to do (again) unless my next source has a nice pre built in. I'm sure the one in the DCC2 is very good. Boris!! (though it's not really metal)
  3. aerius which Cardinals did you hear? The Anniversary wired with the silver transformers or the regular blocks which are $7500 for a pair?
  4. Yeah I think you posted that in another thread. I know you like the Wavelength Napolean, pretty pricey though hehe. The other question is what sort of music did you think sounded real on it? I doubt someone that loves Isis or some other post-metal is going to dig the K1000s (no matter what setup they're in).
  5. Icarium hold up Zanden makes a pair of 300B monoblocks for ~ $35000, couldn't you assume that sounds better than a single M7000-300B Isn't that really maxing out the K1000, in the true spirit of your meaning of maxed out
  6. Oh Dusty I'm positive you could do better than the Pass Labs amps. After a year of use with mine, I saw its short comings. But for the money (and heat ) it was a good amp.
  7. Wait how can you say you're not sure that Noise Duality is that great....hehe. The people praising it weren't exactly Hfi newbies. I remember Jason described it to me on the train, and his description was pretty nice (I trust his impressions over many others, that are just wowed by price tags, specs, etc)
  8. You could theoretically max out any dynamic rig for low 5 figures. It's just because the higher end SinglePower amps cost so much is that those dynamic rigs look so expensive. Single ended DHT tube amp for the R10, L3000, Qualia, etc might sound just as good as those SP amps if not better.
  9. I'm sure the Zanden is a nice amp. But I don't doubt there is a better amp out there. Similarly I'm sure there is a design that sounds better than the Zanden for less, it uses 5687s for driver tubes right?
  10. Not too thrilled with any of them. If only the iTouch had more space.
  11. He might not show up if RSA pulls out
  12. Before being discontinued most people were using some mediocre amps, from what I've read using the search. IIRC canman was the first one to use a balls to the wall amp- the original Aleph 3, which blew a lot of people away at the NY meet he took them to. That sort of got the ball rolling.
  13. lol, what? You know you could build an amp for them that's close to $10000-15000 in parts alone...how much is that retail? $17000-30000?
  14. Fair enough, I understand that logic. After all my knowledge is third hand, but I don't believe it to be true; I know it is (unless this is some elaborate hoax with a small group of people that spans an internet forum of 50000+ people and into a forum of only ~ 3500). And unless the photos he posted involved heavy photoshopping, or he has a stunt double that looks exactly like him.
  15. They are pricey to build a system around. Everytime I look at custom amp solutions for them, my eyes almost fall out of my head. archosman: now is probably the time to sell since there is a lot of hype surrounding them (National Meet separate K1000 room, NorCal meet with Foo_me's setup, etc a lot of people are touting them to be the best headphones ever made).
  16. I'm not revealing too much since this is a private forum, but he has friends that posted in that thread on SA and that know him personally in the forum I'm in. He's not a gimmick.
  17. No I guarantee you it is not. Like I said I know him from another much smaller forum.
  18. Then you can post in this thread and call me a LIAR
  19. And it's 'only' $600. For the crowd it's catering to B&W could have charged a heck of a lot more.
  20. If it's made by B&W it probably sounds decent.
  21. Specific to the frontal lobe I would agree But theres more higher thought centers than just that in the frontal lobe. Does it come in black? KC ftw
  22. Doesn't Earl have a few pairs
  23. The MS2i is a sweet headphone. Nice score Jack. Wish you could have done a comparison with the HP-2 though
  24. Interesting thought. Though as an intelligent species, I disagree that there is a lack of environmental pressure, specific to the higher human brain functions.
  25. Yeah later on he mentions it effects his sex life (something along the lines of having no sex drive) which is a shame since he's engaged to a really good looking girl. That's up there in creep factor
