I'm listening to a 24/96 needle drop of Black Sabbath's Paranoid. Exceptional drop from the first pressing of the USA vinyl. Comparing it to my retail CD (which is also an early pressing really good quality) and the difference is great. Hearing the impact from the drums, and weight to the electric guitar As if 300-500 mb FLAC rips weren't big enough

Thoughts? Where should I start? Worth listening to?

You'll probably get more answers in the Stax thread. But the amps that I heard were integrateds (~10-20 watt) with lambda pros and sr-404 and they didn't sound very good at all.

You'll need a hell of a power amp if you want to use Stax/transformer box/amp. Otherwise the bass is going to be severely rolled off and lacking in punch. Unless you have said power amp I think the Stax amps/KGSS would be a much better value.

I heard a Vandersteen 2Ce setup this weekend and was surprised with what I heard. I think I might grab a pair of these used and continue to save up for my dream Avantgardes in the future.

I know. Around this time I was thinking about getting an O2 and an EA4 as a reward for finishing my boards, but then a good deal on an HP-2 came along I guess I was a little lucky since I put off buying the O2 setup when I read in another thread that build times were close to 4 months, and obviously now this.

Actually all in all a good day, I got off early this afternoon and scut work was minimal It seems philodox and pabbi are the only ones that had dealings with McAlister (correct me if I'm wrong and you got screwed over as well) so if they want to have a public stoning it's up to them to do so. I'm grateful they brought this to our attention, I know where I'm not going if I want an estat amp. Good thing you assumed my question was rhetorical
