  1. Awesome thanks. With the preamp option as well
  2. No special adapters are needed to run the bl7/bx7? Voltage adjustment?
  3. Could you list out all the uprgades you have? Thanks
  4. Tyrion's amp does look good. KenW how much are you looking for your MPX3? Earl has sent me a PM suggesting the PPX3 using large transformers that will be able to use the 6BL7GT at high voltage
  5. RS-1 is a true love for me. I will definitely be looking for a pair. But I'd like to hear the MS-Pro as well. Theres a HP-2 auction on ebay right now. $1025, 4 days left. No secret someone posted it at Headfi it will probably end at way more than it should.
  6. No doubt I loved the pairing with an RS-1. Still I'd like to get every last bit of performance that I can, and I think they're capable of more bass. It did have excellent impact. The 6BL7GT/A sounds very interesting as a high current tube, and I think the added transparency of the MPX would be a plus as well. I have read the MPX is more laid back...thats the only thing I'm not sure I'd like. Damnit! Should have added this to the first post...the Grado I'm going to be using will be the........ ...... .... .. . Grado HP-2
  7. You're the man thanks Oh I will try and come up with better questions (but Earl is doing a damn fine job explaining things right now) being on vacation means nothing to do
  8. Actually I'm quite in the dark right now. I need to read up a lot more about these newer tube configs before I can form anything resembling intelligent I guess if you could ask him about an MPX3 (or PPX3) config optimized for high end Grados using either the 5687/6BL7GT/6BL7GTA or combinations of those tubes without getting all the upgrades in the MPX3 SE. Also running the latter 2 tubes at higher voltage to get the most out of them? I can't quite spend $2200 on a full out MPX3 SE, but I really need an amp to use just with Grados. God damn that meet has a nice lineup of equipment.
  9. I felt really bad hijacking humanflyz thread so I've created this seperately. I've done plenty of searching at the other place. Earl one of your posts from Headfi. Just doing some searching for uber Grado amps. I'm convinced the 6BL7GT/A is the way (if this will provide tons of current for the Grados) I want to go, unless there is a more high current tube that can be stuck in the MPX3 without driving the costs to Supra levels. Out of everything I'm looking for in a tube amp bass slam, and bass control is probably the most important thing for me. I'd like tight controlled bass with excellent attack and decay. And uh...don't mess with the Grado midrange too much please Soundstage is not really that important. Without going the full blown MPX3 SE, what would be a more affordable spec'ed MPX3 that would take full advantage of those tubes? This will also have the preamp option added. Once I get more serious I will definitely give Mikhail a call.
  10. You are very mature for your age. From your posts I would have never guessed you were that young.
  11. Where does one even begin with a base model? Current MPX3?
  12. I'm seriously deathly afraid of getting a Melos because of their reliability and difficult servicing. But I really would like a high end tube amp specifically for Grados. The PPX3-SLAM sounded great, but if theres better I'm all for it. And if SinglePower can do it, then they would have my money.
  13. Mmmm....that sounds so good.
  14. Holy shit are you younger/older than jagwire and skyline938592882012873?
  15. I wish I could build Very interesting. Of the commercial amps available what you think is the best pairing for the RS-1? God I want an uber
  16. Mainly read it for fun. I'm aware of their bias. The Benchmark DAC1 is an excellent DAC. Someone in headfi did an A/B comparison between DA10 and DAC1 and he said the differences were very minute. People seem to have their mind made up on it based off what just others say. To me the DAC1 isn't very far off from my Bel Canto DAC2. Maybe ever so slightly a tad brighter...but would I be able to tell them apart in a blind test? Probably not. Seriously. The claims Ori makes are ridiculous.
  17. I got my October Stereophile a few days ago. Benchmark DAC1 is still Class A. The only DAC under $1000 that is Class A. I really wish they'd review the Lavry.
  18. I wouldn't say so. I don't have a lot of experience with high end DACs but to me the DAC2 doesn't place emphasises on any frequency. I'm still waiting to get the Lavry DA10, I could then do a comparison
  19. ^__^ (not me I dodge chinese hifi) So far the Opus 21 is the best CDP I've heard. I prefered it to the Meridian 588. Someone at the Boston meet said he tried the digital in from his computer (not sure what soundcard) he said it sounded great but not as good as the CD transport.
  20. I have a DAC2 right now. I was on the list to get an in home trial on the DAC3, but decided against it after getting the K1000 One sold on Audiogon (probably in a matter of seconds) for $1400 not too long ago.
  21. Good golly miss molly
  22. I have no idea, I've never heard any of the eggos. A lot of people like them at Headfi, the MDR-D66 is quite famous. I think the appeal is that it's a cheap sealed (foldable?) headphone that usually priced at around $100.
  23. They're the new high end "eggos"
  24. How do they come up with their blue book values? Averaging the costs of what the items go for in the classified section? Is their blue book accurate?
  25. Justin thats an awesome looking faceplate for the amp
