  1. ah pete roc. for what probably won't be the last time in my life i've been outrocksnobbed by someone a decade my junior. touche chuck, touche.
  2. Here's another cross generational classic comparison: DSOTM vs. OKC. spent plenty of time in high school philosophizing over the relative merits of these two.
  3. i fail to see the melodiousness of any previous hip hop artist. eric b. is a legend, for sure, but his beats were still just as stilted, wooden, and robotic as grandmaster flash's or nwa's. and don't even get me started on krs-one or bdp. and then suddenly the hip hop world is smacked upside the head with the damn near narcotic flow of "nuthin' but a g thang"...
  4. I requested "I Must Be High" but they didn't play it. However, my friend requested "Box Full Of Letters", so we were happy to hear that one. Tweedy is so amazing, I'm glad he is healthy and in good spirits, because I'm looking forward to many more decades of incredible music from him. And I'd heard that "Impossible Germany" totally brings down the fucking house, but I didn't realize how amazing it really is live until I saw it. That composed guitar jam is ridiculous.
  5. dude, it was a gnarly show, and loud as hell to boot. I posted the full setlist in the "last concert you attended" thread in the music subforum, but highlights included a stunning "Via Chicago", some favorites from A.M. including "Pick Up The Change" and "Box Full Of Letters", and a mind blowing encore closer of "Monday" -> "Outtasite (outtamind)".
  6. update: i still love my iphone. i used the notes feature to record the setlist at the Wilco concert on Monday. Truly we are living in a digital age.
  7. http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/03/audiophiles-cant-tell-the-difference-between-monster-cable-and/ its lolworthy no matter how you slice it.
  8. spritzer is selling some lambdas.
  9. Wow, your professor is awesome, those are two albums that would be cool to compare. Illmatic and Nevermind would also be damn good, as both albums represent their generation so well but in wildly different ways. Talk about two artists who knew their audience!
  10. Comparing "The Chronic" with an early rap classic like "Paid In Full" would be amazing. Remember that Dre injected melody into hip hop, which is why he is a fucking legend.
  11. can i put a NOS tube in it?
  12. I been scammed!! Don't forget the canary yellow diamonds... it has to have canary yellow diamonds!
  13. This was the first thing I thought, is what type of error correction does the Ripserver use?
  14. As long as I am around, I'll do my part to insure that headcase reminds a big dog picture friendly community.
  15. who's my buddy??!!
  16. We are still many weeks away from the final product, but I'm pretty excited to be purchasing my first nice headphone stand. Its going to be for my black and silver OII. Steve said he'll use wenge and asian satinwood, which I think will look downright snazzy with the OII. It'll be a hanging type design, small enough to still be used with the Stax SPC-1 protective cover.
  17. Headphone stand from S squared audio.
  18. I wasn't, what was it? Taters, Iodine, and Offal?
  19. I voted for McCain in the Alabama primary instead of Obama because I disliked Romney and Huckabee so much. Just so long as we don't get one of "those republicans" in the White House I'll be pretty happy.
  20. One man's lack of backbone is another man's political savvy. I admit McCain's backpedalling on the taxcuts (first they were bad, now they are good) is a turnoff to me as well, but McCain has always been a staunch critic of the Rumsfeld Iraq strategy. This is absolutely true, and another strong reason to vote for a Democrat in the Fall.
  21. Also, I say when we get to the top, we all sync up "High Enough" by Damn Yankees on our rigs and listen at the same time.
  22. OK, looks like we have enough interest to get together a group to climb Mt. Everest. Time to agree on a date. I'm pretty much free every weekend for the next month, but my primary concern is what portable rigs everyone will be bringing. I'm not sure whether to do a laptop/pico thing or just a simpler ipod line out based setup.
  23. Thanks for your offer spritzer, but as long as its not affecting the sound and I'm not electrocuting myself, I'm not going to worry about it. In other Stax news, I finally ordered some speaker wire so I can hook up my SRD-7MK2. If the reader recalls, this is the modded model I bought a few weeks back with the stock speaker wire removed. It hooks up via the speaker outs on the back, which are now speaker ins. I've been using an SRD-7/Pro up until this point, which has two pro bias outs instead of one pro and one normal. Sounds great with my OII, but I've been missing my Lambda.
  24. I've been a longer time fan of McCain then any of the other candidates, since he basically is an honest man. I like that he is a conservative without being an idealouge or a slave to social conversativism and evangelicals. The absolute biggest turn off to me about the modern republican party is candidates who drape themselves in the Shroud of Turin like Bush did. Having said that, I think the only reason McCain is getting the establishment nod is because the Republicans know this is their year to lose, so they might as well let McCain take the hit. After Clinton's Texas and Oklahoma primary wins, I'm back to thinking she'll get the nomination, and after her comments on one of the morning shows today, I'm again hoping for a Clinton/Obama ticket. Yes I said I like John McCain but I dislike Republicans more, so as it stands right now I'll vote for a Democrat in the Fall.
