The Headcase Stax thread
I've never gotten shocked, per se, but the other night while listening to some Lionel Richie on the Lambdas I did pee my pants and forget my name for about a half hour. Thanks for the help Spritzer, I'll just enjoy the music and not worry about the grill.

The Headcase Stax thread
Hey Stax Fans- I was looking at my SR-Lambda the other day, and noticed that the mesh grill on the inside of the right cup has a slight inward bump, and appears to actually be touching the gold surface underneath it (is this the driver itself, or some kind of driver covering?). This appears to have no audible effect on the sound at all, I'm just wondering if its something I should be concerned about.

Wow, a lot of whining going on in this thread. Somebody call the waaaaambulance, stat.

Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I-IV
Wow, thats crazy. I'm glad I jumped on it when I did. "I can always sell it later" is the best justification for buying spendy limited edition vinyl box sets. Even if it was recorded digitally, I agree with deepak that DDA's still sound better then their DDD counterparts. A great example of this is The Knife on vinyl. Holy cow that record sounds amazing on wax.

Good online source for vinyl?
I've also had good results from ebayer "goahead bob". Just bought a copy of Thom Yorke's "Eraser" from him, and I bought another vinyl from him a couple weeks ago. I can't remember. But it was in good condition and shipped quickly.

Good online source for vinyl?
Acoustic Sounds is my favorite, but both of the above are great as well. What sets Acoustic Sounds apart are the insane shipping boxes, which are thick and very tough. The Steve Hoffman classifieds are a great place to buy vinyl from reputable audiophiles, though the market is much more saturated with CDs then vinyl. I've had extremely limited success on eBay. Most eBay sellers way overrate the vinyls condition. $40 for 15 LPs seems like a great deal until you actually listen to them, and they all sound like de-grooved shit. Geoman, a popular name around the Hoffman forum, has his own site setup called Plymouth Rock Music. He is the fucking man. A lot of his vinyl right now is WAY overpriced though. He knows it, but I think he just gets so exhausted shipping out vinyl that sometimes he just jacks the price up so no one will buy. Here's his eBay store, where the prices are typically better. Its empty right now.

Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I-IV
Here's a picture of Trent from the recent "Ghosts" session:

I never understand any of Dusty's custom titles. :'(

Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I-IV
Right on. I haven't attempted to download it yet since I'm at work, so maybe I'll share in your frustration when I get home. Anywho, I like that Trent is one of the few artists who offers FLAC downloads online. He "gets" us, at least to a certain extent. The Radiohead ~192kbps MP3's sounded like a muddy poo pool.

Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I-IV
What was wrong with the In Rainbows release, other then it only being available in MP3? I had no trouble with the In Rainbows site at all. And I don't think we should be picking on Trent for not having enough bandwidth setup to handle day one of the sale. Rather, we should be celebrating the fact that there is so much interest in this direct from artist to consumer sales technique.

"I'm not a businessman / I'm a business, man." Should be cool to have that booklet though. I wasn't expecting much from the "Frozen Sea" Sigur Ros booklet, but I found it to be an awesome addition to the vinyl box. Lots of lovely pictures and a well-written if brief narrative about the band's history that I found quite touching. It definitely enriched my Sigur Ros listening experience.

Ditto. But I knew as soon as I saw it I would buy it, even though I allowed myself to sleep on it. Looks like it will be a very nice package. But if I could have bought just the vinyl I probably would have done that instead.

Happy Birthday Nate!
Absolutely. Here's hoping the audiophile USB cable I sent him has made it through Canadian customs. \ It has connectors made out of solid gold pressed latinum.

[hcOG] The official thread to the official clan, of the official headphone site.
sorry i missed your invite david, I was cleaning the house and left the PS3 on. Me and my buddy swapped back and forth playing for several hours this weekend (he's playing on my character and earning me XP [haxhaxhaxhax]) and I've gotten much, much better. I still finish last on some bad rounds, but I actually had one perfect game (no deaths) and have finished 3rd and 2nd a couple times. I'm level 10 or 11 now I think. I use the assault rifle that is one up from the AK, with a laser scope. For perks I do deep penetration and some other shit. basically i wreck fools all day, ya heard.

Would anyone here want to climb Everest?
i'll never climb mt. everest, but ever since I took a travel literature course in college, everest and the people who climb it have fascinated me. Its one hell of an amazing ordeal people go through to get to the top of that mountain.

SRM-727II
I think thats a very realistic offer, though I've seen the for sale prices on used OII/amp combos vary wildly, from $2000 to $3000.

aardvark, the new foobar is really fantastic and easy to setup. I love the folder view. I think foobar could also be used to convert ALAC to FLAC with the right plugins. I use it for all my MP3 and WAV conversions.
