sweeeeeet! no way I'm paying your 0% processing fee though.

it was definitely the tube. after I waited for cool down and rolled in a new output, my ksc75 sounds splendid. this is the second time I've blown a driver with a bad tube. makes me want to get a tube tester.

I've been comparing the 5400 and 6400 receivers. Basically the 6400 has ten more watts amplification, ethernet, and something called H.A.T.S audio technology. Not sure if that justifies the price increase.

super sweet of you stevieo, but I think I'll just go with the two new drivers like you did. Its possible something is wrong with my left driver as well, its just hard to tell because listening to them right now is so disconcerting. So I'd rather just swap two in to be safe. I am happy to hear its an easy procedure. Nate, I'm going to give it a shot myself, and if I can pull it off, no need to ship it to you.

three evenings of Widespread Panic last weekend. Breather this weekend. Next week Robert Randolph on Thursday, Death Cab on Saturday. I'm not the biggest Death Cab fan but a friend really wanted me to come with.

I got mine ordered today, she told me I'd have them in 5 days. Thanks again for the part number.

it really couldn't have been easier. I just called and spoke with Renee, gave her the part number pabbi provided, card # and address. $90.80.

Alan, is that another SACD player?

HD650 drivers. I'm missing my cans. Should arrive in 5 days according to Sennheiser.
-
I'll get on the horn to Sennheiser ASAP and get a pair of drivers.

that's high praise if it was feeding the BHSE and O2.

subpress also has a few tim powers books. amazon has them for ~$55 apiece. I'm sure you already own them and/or know this.

Peter, I do hope to read Snow Crash and enjoy it someday. I just need to get over my cyberpunk/VR prejudice. I purchased Tim Powers "The Stress of Her Regard". It arrives Friday. In the meantime I've put down Pandora's Star and picked back up Gene Wolfe's "Urth of the New Sun", which I am about halfway through.

verdict: win I love that they busted out the analog synths for this record. I've only heard it at low volume out of my KSC75, but sonically it sounds much less harsh then Playing the Angel (which I also loved). A bit minimalist, sure, a bit dreamy ambient, sure, but in no way is this Exciter redux. Great vocal performances from Gahan, and Gore's production is just awesome.

As much as I love Stephenson, I have never been able to finish Snow Crash. I have an aversion to cyberpunk. I hope to one day get over this aversion and get through the book. I even own the fancy schmancy LE slipcased edition. This is where I started, then onto Cryptonomicon. I think you'd be good starting with either one. After those two, The Baroque Cycle, which seems to divide a lot of Stephenson fans. To me it is obviously his greatest achievement. I need to read Anathem though.

Just looked, not sure how they were mastered. It does say DSD all over the cases though.

sweet, you both rock, thanks!

Ha, yeah I spent a long time at work doing just what you described with Stephenson on Amazon. Lots of Gibson, who never did anything for me, and Gaiman, who I absolutely love but have read all his stuff. I have been wanting to reread American Gods though. Damn good book. Something both Gaiman and Stephenson do is instill a sense of wonder in me while I'm reading, which comes from a deep appreciation for the author's creativity and the immensity of their accomplishment. The Baroque Cycle, in this sense, is the most enjoyable series I've ever read, though I'll always have a special place in my heart for Vandermeer's Ambergris novels (time for a sequel to Shriek Jeff). I've read and enjoyed the first Discworld novel, as well as the book about the apocalypse Pratchett and Gaiman cowrote. Christopher Moore is a new name to me, looks fun. Any comments on the Culture novels by Iain M. Banks? EDIT: Dan, just read synopsis for two Tim Powers novels: "Declare" and "The Drawing of the Dark". That is what I'm talking about! Can't wait to get my hands on one of these.

Bought a bad tube off of eBay, and it looks like something happened and it fried my right driver. I thought it was just the tube, but a few days later when I powered my amp back up with new tubes, the problem was still there. Its hard to imagine this pair being busted: it was the third headphone I bought and the only one I kept. It's been with me since 2005. Anyway, anyone ever have any experience with Sennheiser after warranty repairs? Was wondering if its worth it to mess with them or if I should just scope out a used pair, or upgrade to the HD800. Currently I'm rocking the KSC75 out of the HA-2, and it sounds great.

right on, this is a name I've heard a lot but never looked into. I'll check him out. Nope, haven't heard of Anderson, I'll look into it, thanks.

Just started Pandora's Star, good so far. Having said that, I need Stephenson-like recommendations. Think large, dense books that are intelligent and large in scope, but also fun to read, and preferably of the speculative fiction genre (historical fiction, SFF, or fantasy, or horror). Thanks.
