  1. Yeah, I'll be interested to see them. Who knows, they might get touched up before they are sent, or like you said it could just be the flash.
  2. Well, pre mods they sound like garbage apparently. Post mods they sound very nice. That is all I can really say until I have them.
  3. Damn, I forgot beer, thanks grawk.
  4. It is true that I can't really think of any $1000+ headphone that clearly bests my K340 overall. They all do certain things better, but the only one that I think I could truley give up my K340's for is the HE90... at which point my fancy amp is useless. I'd love to own a pair of R10's, K1000's, PS-1's, and HP1000's [not to mention RS-1's, but they are under a grand]... but my budget is limited, and even if I had all of those my K340's would still be staying right where it is. Not a fan of the Qualia's or O2's from what I've heard so far, haven't heard the Leatherheads... am I missing any?
  5. Though they do well with electronica, I don't think that is the only genre they excel at. Any chance your going to CanJam?
  6. The K340s can sound lovely in the right rig. I'm sure that the Qualias are the same, though I've yet to hear it.
  7. Have you actually gone to one of those places Eaphan? I like my Wife, my cats, my audio system and my Wii. Of course, I also like a good rack and a nice booty.
  8. I have not heard this headphone, so I don't have much of a response as of yet. There have been a few impressions on Head-Fi, which you should be able to find if you search for 'Chocolate Donuts'. I bought it based on swt61's description as I trust his ears and preferences. In his opinion they are on K340 level, though different in many ways. With the YH-100 drivers he believes them to be far superior, approaching and maybe eclipsing the Stax Omega 2. Now, assuming Steve has the same opinion of the K340 as I, that would place them a little above balanced HD650's to my taste. I don't much care for the Stax Omega 2 myself, so that comparison doesn't really help me. I got a great deal on them and have been wanting to dive into orthodynamics for some time, so I am very excited to hear them. If I can manage to track down a pair of YH-100 drivers, even better.
  9. I bought swt61's chocolate donuts. Enjoy your boobies.
  10. Oops, missed this first time around. I get what you mean, and I agree that I'll need to see them in person to reach a final decision about the looks. As for the brown bits, if I don't like them in person it shouldn't be hard to order new parts from Beyerdynamic. I also have some black paint that bonds to plastic, so I could sand them down a bit and give them a few coats of that.
  11. Oh, I've never heard anyone call the flats donuts. I'm not sure they do normally, I think that Steve's woody has a ridge or something... but they still might fit normal Beyers. By all reports it sounds very good as it is now and will sound extremely good if I can find some YH-100 drivers for it at some point.
  12. What don't you get?
  13. Ummm... more than RS-1's. Yes Earl, they are a perfect mold of your anus. Steve took it while you were asleep last night.
  14. What's wrong with the shape? They're ported. Not sure about the brown plastic myself, but that can be easily remedied. I don't actually have them yet, so no idea as to the sound except for what I've heard through the impressions I've read. I've wanted to try Ortho's for a while, and Steve's woodwork is impeccable... and these were tweaked by Wualta, and he is as much of a crazy mad scientist as Patrick, except that he is sane. That combined with the nice fit of the beyers and the L3000 earpads tells me that this should be a nice companion for my K340's.
  15. Ok, the suspense is killing me...
  16. Did you get the optional rivets option? I hear it keeps 909 from your amp like nobodys business.
  17. Figured it was baseball, that makes sense.
  18. Huh?
  19. You're getting bagel pads for your RS-1s? But those aren't the kind of donuts I'm talking about. Though there is definately wood involed.
  20. This thread is really... quite... riveting.
  21. I like Tim Hortons for coffee myself, but I'm canadian. Don't like donuts much for eating.
  22. This is in the Headphones forum, please stay on topic.
  23. The MS2i is definately in the below 300 sweet spot for Grados. One of my favourites. Earl - Looser101 has both the MS2i and the MS Pro and could probably give you some impressions. I haven't spent enough time with the MS Pro yet myself. Boomana - The MS2i is a big step up from the MS1. Looser101 would probably give a better description of the sound though as he has owned both for some time. Maybe I'll send Renato a PN and ask him to check in to this thread...
  24. The bottom plate of my amp is secured by four self tapping wood screws for christ sake, I WISH I had allen keys.
