  1. I wasn't sure where else to ask, but am I isolating the mosfets from their heatsinks in the original BH build? With either thermasil or alum oxide isolator?
  2. next version should have a tube ccs driving the sic... ripping up my offboard boards now, so excite
  3. Please grace us with some closeups, I have a set of v0.4 offboard pcbs which I'd love to modify into a kgsic. Less heatsink holes to drill+tap too
  4. Are you recycling your T2 power supply for this? What are your thoughts?
  5. Is there something about the stereo board version that's keeping you from stocking it?
  6. I guess the real solution is to find a new place to live- abuse the advantages of not being a property owner...I can make the hum die down a bit by touching the component metal surfaces, maybe a grounding wrist strap is in order? Is this still an issue if I use an isolation transformer? As I understand things so far, it's a giant 1:1 where the outlet side is grounded, but not on the component side. If ground is open on the outlet side the isolated side shouldn't see anything different right? By this logic I could just buy one large enough to handle my entire chain...assuming I can find one that doesn't hum.
  7. yes only difference between the two is the software can't speak to the 6tb drives though, I would base my decision on the number of platters inside
  8. They are certainly 3-prong outlets, and it adds up if you figure that this guy bought the house in '87 and has used a family friend as a combination plumber/electrician... Maybe I shouldn't be plugging electrostatic amplifiers into the house for the near-term.
  9. In my quest to deal with this I bought an outlet tester, apparently the entire house reads as "open ground". Anyone have experience with this? If it's an easy fix I don't mind messing around but it's not my place so if there's real expense involved I have to deal with it differently.
  10. One funny thing I've noticed about the Megatron in office use- it picks some signals from my cell phone. Verified by disabling/enabling airplane mode. Hasn't happened on anything else I've built to date
  11. Well that substitute came at a good time, I just checked bdent and they only have 20 pieces of 1968 in stock at $16 a pop
  12. I'm holding out for the 6s4a/el34 circlotron, too many of those tubes lying around
  13. please ask these questions at headfi
  14. can't you just fab it yourself? it's pretty small, shouldn't be too expensive to do a one off of these
  15. They look a lot nicer than the esp950, I'm tempted
  16. I hope there's a package deal for a spritzer t2 with bread, I would purchase that
  17. they look pretty nice, comfortable even. I wonder how well they (don't) isolate
  18. what are your plans for the case?
  19. tester is duoyi dy294 iirc
  20. looking good, heatshrink that shit for style points
  21. I have one channel that I can donate, an extra from bay area circuits
  22. I think Kevin explored some options and originally settled on the 1968 due to its stability at .5 ma
  23. no point in making that kind of bet imo, especially when you only need 4 and the cost of all the amplification devices in the megatron is already ridiculous
  24. I'm thinking about making mine a 2 box affair with the kgsshv supply. Maybe I'll use those terminal block spots for caps instead and mount said caps/terminal blocks on a some perfboard
  25. Kevin has some teflon male jacks that he's been working on if his pictures are to be believed. You might want to try dropping him a line.
