Wow, I really gotta try some of those places. I only ate at Sorento's in the Ilikai hotel (great view), and Phuket Thai. Both are excellent. I went with my wife to Sorento's on V-day once. I remembered it since getting from Downtown to Waikiki took about 1.5 hours believe it or not. Then we had to wait another hour to get seated with reservations. The food was great, but probably not the 2.5 hours of hassle . It was a set menu that night as well. I have passed Jamison's a bunch, but never ate there. I bet the sunset's on the North Shore at Jamison would be a nice touch.

A breakfast chorizo sounds so good right now. We got a lot of Vietnamese Pho places here and I love pho. But, there aren't many good Mexican places in Hawaii. But, when I was in Northern Cal they had great Mexican places. I still miss them. The place you mentioned sounds good. If it was here then I would go there for sure. I really don't know the difference between Northern or Southern Italian, but the salmon sounds good and shrimp rissoto sounds excellent. Getting hungry now. Now going to Chili's to eat a burger for lunch doesn't sound nearly as good . So this burger cook off challenge on the Food network so it made me hungry for a burger, but now...

Had this disc for about 15 years, but about 3 years back I couldn't find it. I think it is really lost and it was one of my favorite discs. I brought another replacement. I had the Gold disc so I brought the replacement that is a gold disc too

Didn't know you were married for 16 years. That's great of your wifey to go out with you on stereo shopping. My wife accepts my headphone and music love . It helps that she loves music as much as me. Wishing you many more wonderful years 4N6

I like the Mongolian BBQ stuff. There was a place where I used to like to go in Northern Cal when I lived there. There was a huge round cooking surface with two workers. You would choose what you wanted to cook up like the vegetables, beef, lamb, chicken, and sauce. Once you hand them the bowl they would throw it on and then put it in a plate. Good eats. That place sounds good. I like Bistros and Parisian food is great. I never heard of that chef, but I know a pretty well known chef here personally and if you are in town I think we would eat there. He is a co founder of Hawaii Regional Cuisine and it is really good. He is pretty darn amazing in how it mixes and infuses different styles of food together.

Woot. Sounds like a plan

LOL. Well if you are in town let me know . There are so many places to eat here because of the cultural diversity. The place you mentioned sounds like a Thai place I was going to talk about later. I love Pad Thai and Curry Chicken. The Thai place around here has that sticky rice desert with fresh, homemade mango ice cream. There are tons of mango trees here. Is the sticky rice warm when it's brought to you? The place I go to serves it warm.

For my 1000 post I thought I start something off. I didn't see a thread which had what places peeps here like to eat in their area and why. I work in downtown Honolulu, and for those not familiar with downtown Honolulu, it has a lot of places to eat. I was wondering what places you folks like to eat in your area and what do you like to eat there. I'll try to post something daily. This thread is inspired by my cultural upbringing regarding food. The thing about Hawaii is that food is a pretty essential part of our culture. For example, if someone at work goes on a trip they always bring back food from the place they were visiting. In our work area we have tons, and tons of treats. I mean anything from chocolates, cookies, candy, Trader Joe items (we don't have one in Hawaii), chips, pretzels, etc. Mostly these items are Costco or Sam Club sizes. Talk about temptation. Also for our department meeting everyone takes turns bringing in a treat for the whole group. Two weeks ago someone brought in homemade Portuguese bean soup with French bread. Then this week was Dim Sum. If there are meetings in our company I've seen people bring in Madasada's (Portuguese donuts), pies, cakes, donuts, etc. We just celebrated Boys Day (Japanese culture thing), and the girls in our department made chili and hotdogs, rice, fruits, bagels, danish', and salad. Oh and for a small gift for Boys Day the girls gave us, you guessed it "food treats". Our company accomplished a goal recently and we ate at an all your can eat Japanese seafood buffet. Pretty much if there is a reason to celebrate we'll do it and there is always food involved. On New Years eve whole families get together to pop fireworks and cook tons of food. Any way I could go on and on about food here, but that would take a long time. The one good thing about living here is that the weather allows us to exercise all year round Well, I'll start us off. I eat at a place near my workplace called Sushi Kahuna in downtown Honolulu. I like that place since it is authentic Japanese. I mean besides all the people speaking fluent Japanese the food is authentic, reasonable, and excellent. I love to eat Spicy Ahi, Spicy Salmon, or something called Chirashi. The Chirashi has fresh salmon, ahi, hamachi, tamago, and fresh crab over rice. The crab has the same flavor as a California roll. The rice is also top notch quality. Yes there are different grades of Japanese rice . Overall since a friend took me to that place I eat about 2 months ago I'm there 3 to 4 times a week and I love it. Okay your turn. Now I'm kind of getting hungry

It is one of my favorite Hawaiian foods. I mean I haven't found anyone that doesn't really like it yet. Definitely not good if you are on a diet, but very tasty indeed.

Kalua Pig sandwich. It is like pulled pork sandwich, but a little different flavor (Hawaiian style). This is how they cook it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalua and how to prepare it in a slow cooker http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Kalua-Pig-in-a-Slow-Cooker/Detail.aspx

Darn Okay, maybe it will be here tomorrow or next week One thing I did today was plug in my Rega Planet and used the Toslink and Coax inputs on the 840C. It sounded great. I did try the coax from the Denon 2900 to the 840C input and that sounded great as well. Overall I'm very happy with this player -
Congrats to the both of you. I wish you many years of bliss and happiness . I still remember my wedding day... Good times
