  1. Just put some up, but I'll have more once I spend more quality time with them Gindeed for sure
  2. Hi Reks. Thanks for letting me know. I actually read your take and a lot more other takes on these cans. From what I read about these before I got them was that they had some mid colorization and it performed well with some music and poorly on others. I wanted to check them out since I did listen to them when I went to a meet once and when I read my impressions again about those cans I was interested in getting them. The opportunity just presented itself this week so here I am with these cans I just got them (DX-1000s, still waiting for the AD2000), and changing the output tubes between the Bendix 6080 and the Cetron 6528A made a huge difference. Right now I have the Mullard ECC32 as the input tube, but I'm waiting for the 2c51 adapter and Tung - sol 2c51 tube . So far what I noticed from swapping the tubes between the Bendix and Cetron is that the soundstage is different with them. I just swapped to the Bendix and the soundstage is smaller than the 6228A and it sounds a lot more detailed. The Cetron made the JVC hit the low end bass more and the soundstage is bigger. I did like the Cetron made my Remember Shakti album sound spacious with good separation between the instruments. Right now I'm listening to Eric Clapton's Unplugged and the Bendix matches this perfectly since the soundstage is smaller than the 6528a, but the detail is good and it feels like I'm actually there. With the 6528A it was a bigger soundstage, but there was a lot of air around voices and instruments and it didn't match the synergy with the recording as the Bendix is doing. Overall I'm having fun with these JVCs but I just got them so I need to spend more quality time with them.
  3. Gonna try em out and find out if I like them or not

  5. 2c51 Tung Sol and 2c51 adapter
  6. Thanks Mulveling. I saw one at tube world that I might purchase just to try it out. Thanks again for your help.
  7. Yeah.. Would be easy if I was at least in the CONUS.
  8. Good points for sure mulveling. The Dragon is great. I've been happy with it from day one. I'm not sure what is meant by a continuous volume pot, but I'm assuming it is like my SP SLAM PPX3. It doesn't have a stepped attenuator, but the Dragon does. I do like the fact that I can dial in to what I'm listening to on my SLAM, and once in a great while have some trouble dialing in just right with the Dragon, but it's a small thing for me, and the sound with the stepped attenuator installed is probably better than having it without one. Sure wish you guys could come over and check out the Dragon... Just come to Hawaii and enjoy the sun and beaches. BTW, what type of GE12AY7 am I looking for. I see some from 1950s and then some from 1960s? They vary in price from $50 for one to $20 on Ebay. I'm pretty much a tube noob , so not sure where a good reliable place would be to purchase tubes. Any insight and help is much appreciated.
  9. Thanks for your insight Purk. I was thinking about that, but since I never heard a SDS-SE I wouldn't know. One day I gotta fly up and join a meet with my amp. It would be interesting getting it from Hawaii over to the CONUS though. I gotta check the GE12AY7 tube as well.
  10. John Adams on HBO. Read the book awhile ago so I'm throughly enjoying the series.
  11. Nice and enjoy.
  12. I just started reading it and I do like it. It helps reinforce what I read recently which I enjoyed as well: I still have to read the Churchill books eventually.
  13. Thanks for the links
  14. Reading these two books
  15. Thanks mulveling for your impressions on the 3 amps. That helps a lot since I haven't heard a Zana yet. It is one of the amps that I've always contemplating purchasing. I'm really, really happy with Todd's old amp "The Dragon" with my HD650. If I did have to buy another high end amp I would definitely go with the Zana. Glad you're keeping it.
  16. I'm there for Clearance HD-DVDs. There were already 40 select HD-DVDs on Amazon for buy one get one free and the HD-DVDs were 19.99 a piece so around $20.00 for 2.

    Obama

Yeah . I was quite surprised that Obama took Iowa. It is going to get quite interesting since Hillary won in New Hampshire.
  18. Thanks for the link. That amp looks really sweet
  19. Got it on sale for 59.99
  20. Neither did I until I saw her on CSI NY and now on Ghost Whisperer. Check out her site here: http://www.afinefrenzy.com/ Also I found out her music was on other shows as well: * One Tree Hill - Season 4 Episode 17 "Lifesize" * Big Shots - Season 1 Episode 3 "Almost Lover" * House - Season 3 Episode 18 "Hope for the Hopeless" * CSI: NY - Season 4 Episode 1 "Almost Lover" "Last of Days"
  21. Thanks. Now I really gotta check it out. Probably after Christmas. Have fun
  22. How are you liking it so far? I was kind of curious about this game.
