  1. Hey . I'll let you know when I get it in. It should be here soon. Will do on the interconnect as well. Cheers
  2. Wow, in a week. That is some damn good service. Too bad the computer companies don't take notes from Shure..
  3. Sorry to hear about your E500 . Please let us know what Shure does. I haven't had to send them anything for repair, but I always keep hearing about their excellent customer service.
  4. As hYdrociTy mentioned on the first listen to the Pico I was like, "these things are amazing!" Once again, but not liked you needed another vote after vote for the Pico, I just wanted to express the same reaction I had as well.
  5. I haven't heard an Imod yet, but I have owned a Pico. That thing is quite simply amazing. Out of my laptop or even using my Rega it sounded good. I tried it with my Grados like the SR225, SR60, and HF-1s and it worked fine so I'm thinking that it should be fine with your MS2i. I'm sure if you get the Pico you won't regret it. Even using it with my Ipod on the go with my ES7s they were fantastic. My Ipod with the ES7s never sounded so good in my life. Best of luck
  6. Hey Jack I remembered you mentioning this a while back. I found out that guys lives in Hawaii so if I do decide to keep the 840C, I'm gonna try to purchase from him locally. Thanks for the input again I'll look into it as well to see if it would work with the 840C. Thanks
  7. Thanks for letting me know more options guys . I didn't know you could do all this with the 840C. This is very . Now I'm going to look at all these options to greater use the 840C.
  8. Yup it is a 1/8: SPDIF optical. I just looked at what Salt Peanuts suggested and that looks like what I need. Thanks you guys for all your help. The head-case crew to the rescue. This is my first CD player obviously with digital inputs. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
  9. Hi all. Since I'm getting in the Cambridge 840C, I was wondering what type of cable should I get for connecting the my 840c to my laptop? The 840C has coax and my laptop has S/PDIF 1/8". I haven't done this before as I'm guessing that I could connect my laptop or Ipod to the 840C and use the DAC in the 840c? I was thinking about getting Blue Jeans to make a cable to do this. What would you folks recommend. Thanks in advance .
  10. I really like the ATH-ES7 out of my Ipod. When I had the E5c and E500s and even the ER-4P or ER-4S I liked those out of my Ipod as well. I don't use the Ipod that much, but when I do those were the IEMs and can that I enjoyed.
  11. Hey Dom. As boomana mentioned that is what happened to me after owning it for a few weeks. I actually traded it for a HF-1 and cash on my end locally.
  12. Just a little update. I decided to purchase the 840C online as they do offer a 30 day trial. The local audio store down here doesn't really know when they are getting the 840C as it could be a couple week to longer than a month. I'm hoping that the 840C will be here by next week. I'll start there and if the opportunity presents itself I'll move up to the Exemplar 2900 eventually. After reading reviews about it over and over again it seems like it will be a lot better than my DAC1 and Denon 2900 setup right now. Thanks to everyone with all your suggestions . I'm sure one day I will move up and get a better source, but I thought I should start somewhere and the 840C sounded like the most comfortable place for a noob like me in regards to sources to start. Thanks again and I'll post how I like it when I get it in.
  13. #1 looks good as well. I've got a lot of folks that have Lenovo laptops for business and they are loving it. Only one failure on the hard drive, but the customer service/tech support helped resolve that person's issue quite quickly as well.
  14. Yeah. Head-Case is filled with great people and lots of excellent information. In regards to the money sucking part, I just brought 2 cans in the last week, a source, and another amp with the help of many Head-casers with advice and purchasing . This place is more dangerous than HF. You've been warned again . Once again glad to have you here. I'm almost there I think
  15. Hola. I saw all your thank yous to the vendors on the other site. That was very nice of you. Sounds like you had a great time at CanJam .
  16. Thanks for the tech tip. I didn't know about RIP.
  17. Congrats Deepak
  18. Hey Purk. Yes, he has shipped it out and I can't wait to be quite honest. I've read many folks liked the 840C. A friend of mine that lives here actually has a 840C and he absolutely loves it. I can't remember his $5,000 CD player he had, but he thought that the 840C came pretty close to sounding as good. I am going to setup a demo time with the local audio shop here and I was planning to take my R10s as well. I'm hoping that they will let me demo it in house for a day. They actually let someone demo it in their home for a day. That way I could baseline it with my current setup and use the Dragon to see how it would sound. I'm starting with the 840C and will work my way up to hear different sources that were mentioned in this thread. I believe the local audio shop here might have a good selection of CD players, but of course they won't have a Exemplar to demo, but if the many head casers think that the Exemplar is great, I'm certain it is . I'm just counting the days till they get here... Thanks for your help and to everyone as well. It really helps a new guy to sources out a bunch
  19. Will do morphsci. I have about 10 albums that I usually test my new gears and cans with. I can't wait to audition one just to see how it compares to my current setup. After reading Todd's fantastic review of the 840C I think I won't be disappointed .
  20. Yeah, it's not balanced Thanks about your thoughts on the price as others have mentioned that to me as well . I definitely end up with a better source and I'm looking into a Exemplar 2900 as many are more familiar with it and like it. I'm going to demo a Cambridge 840C here later this week just to here how it is against my Denon 2900 with DAC1 now. I'm sure it will be a lot better.
  21. Jack looking for one too . I'm pretty sure what everyone recommended will trounce my current system by a mile. I'm probably going to not go balanced for a while. I'm really looking at the Exemplar as well. Thanks for all the great suggestions. Keep them coming . I'm going to do a bunch of research on the ones mentioned. Thanks again.
  22. I sure hope so as you have a great system . Hope you had a wonderful Birthday with many, many more
  23. Hi Reks. My budget is around $2500 to $3000.00
  24. Hi everyone. I'm thinking about upgrading my source. Right now I have a stock Denon DVD-2900 to a DAC1. I've been looking at either a Exemplar DVD-2900 or DVD-3910 or Purks rig which is a Modwright with Kern Modded Sony SCD-777ES w/ Tube Rectified PSU or even a Cambridge 840C. There is a Exemplar DVD-3910 on sale at Agon http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?dgtlplay&1214828507, but I'm not sure if that is a good price or not. Just a little background on sources, I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to sources. I read reviews on all the products mentioned, and read Tkam's great review on the Cambridge 840C. They all sound like they would be good, but I'm not sure how much of a step up would those sources be from the setup I have now? Overall I would just like to have a better source that would be around 1.5 to 2 times better than what I have now. The reason why I'm trying to upgrade my source is for a Sony R10 less bassy version. Thanks for your help as it's much appreciated .
  25. Hi Jack, Thanks for the info. I'll look into it. BTW, congrats on the GS1000 sale. So are you going to take the plunge and get a D5000 like you posted in the CanJam thread?
