  2. 2me4irl James Lumb, the man behind Electric Skychurch, and his cat. Tromsø, Norway. 500 miles inside the arctic circle. Home to Geir Jenssen and Röyksopp.
  3. I was in an extended discussion with a friend of mine tonight (a few of you will know him as Bludvessel) about how modern pop music makes me ill. We covered some of the studio tricks used on things like Taylor Swift's dance pop and Gabrielle's "Dreams" (don't look it up) and how they make me QUESTION MY VERY WILL TO KEEP ON LIVING. We then moved on to pop music that I actually like. Oddly (and by that, I mean "not odd in the slightest") KSIA came up. I have ...strip mined YouTube and P2P for live KISA. There is precious little. There are a few music videos, some official some not. I've never seen this one before: Dunno if I remotely GAF about the video, but the song is one of my favorite by KISA. I mostly prefer the original incarnation of KISA with Sarah P on vox, but there's a lot of material on the second album with Jessica Bell singing that's basically as good as synthpop gets. My favorite touch is the acoustic phone that rings briefly during the breakdown. While we're on the subject of KSIA, this is the song that got me into them way back when:
  4. Mixmaster Morris hangs out with SomaFM's Rusty Hodge and a friend. Sbubby! Rooftopping in S.F.
  5. This photo fucks with my sense of scale.
  6. Tide Pods are so last year. Now it's time for Tide Box Wine! Robert Babicz re-did his euro rack modular. Luke Million showing off his new shirt (who cares?) and some of his synths (helloooo, nurse!)
  7. Electronics store in Japan.
  8. Senior Threat. "The Commodores" The Milky Way rising over Le Bons Bay, New Zealand. An hour of exposure time.

  10. The jaw harp is just an acoustic TB-303.
  11. Oliver Lieb's home studio. SF, 1 week apart.
  12. This is a sequencer. You can see the 19" rack gear inside the enclosure.
  13. Warning the following is kind of horrifying. It shows burned corpses.
  14. In the Paris rain, May 1961, JFK and de Gaulle honor soldiers who gave their lives. "Patriotism is when love of your own people comes first; nationalism, when hate for people other than your own comes first." - Charles de Gaulle
  15. Russ Gabriel's bedroom studio. CP-Mew.

  17. I'm not sure if this is pro or anti Trump, but I'm pretty sure I just threw up a little.
  18. Feeling drained from my trudge through the rain yesterday. That means I'm not driving to the AAPL store this week, which in turn means I'll be doing my show this Friday (on a fully charged battery.)
  19. Fricken VOTED. It's raining bad metaphors here in scenic western MA. I live in a geographically large (by Masshole standards) but sparsely populated town. In spite of that, everyone and their inbred uncle was on their way to the polling station. I ended up parking half a mile away and trudging my (old, fat, out of shape) ass there and back to vote. I came home soaked and in need of a change of clothes. Taxachusetts isn't even a battleground state. Unless there's a Yankees fan around.
  20. Henry Rollins was the frontman for the hardcore punk band Black Flag. He's also a solo musician, spoken word performer and author (and actor and and and...) He's got what one would term an ...intense personality.
