  1. Holy crap, someone made a Lego Minifig of Dominic.
  2. NSFW, but kinda funny
  3. Good morning, Head-Case! I'm never coherent when I get up this hour, so here's some surreal philosophy for you:

  5. Two American DJ Jellyfish LED fixtures. It's been clear to me for quite some time that my lighting rig has needed an update. I've lost business to DJs who buy one or two LED fixtures and consider that a "light show." The Jellyfish has no motor and no moving parts. That means the beams are static, and only change as different groups of LEDs go on and off. Normally this type of light annoys me, but I really like the Jellyfish. It's one of the few fixtures where the light itself is as cool looking as the beams it makes. I got these after two days of making "best offers" on eBay. It's a strange feature, but it saved me a fair amount. Now I just need to choose and buy four more fixtures.
  6. How do you find Will Smith in the snow?
  7. On a slightly different subject, Reddit, the social news aggregator site has a series of "non ad" ads they run. Usually a picture of a kitten or something to thank the users for not using adblock. One of the admits asked /r/photography to submit some selections for new "non ads." I had three submissions: The above images are the size (300x224) necessary for the ad space. Click through on any of them to go to the Flickr page for larger sizes, EXIF, etc.
  8. The EF 50mm F/1.0L is a collector's bauble. It might as well be branded Leica for all the good it will do Canon shooters. The new EF 24mm F/1.4L is a much better piece of glass that will lead to better available light shots. Long time readers of this forum will remember when I explained at length why the Leica Noctilux is no damn good for similar reasons, and the Noct is actually sharp wide open. I have been considering buying a 4x5" viewcam for a while now, but whas has stopped me is that I am really not set up to develop the negatives, nevermind making prints. For the moment, I'm shooting film with my EOS K2. Eventually I'd like to get an EOS 1v, or do something crazy and switch systems. None of that is happening any time soon. I pretty much agree with all your points on the superwide zooms. At such a wide FoV, faster aperture doesn't matter much and every mm counts. I also find third party lenses suspect. 9. I've dug a bit deeper. It appears as if Sears is now advertising for 3rd parties like Amazon does. The seller is "The electronics limited" and they have zero seller feedback. They have three items for sale. A Nikon D3x for $5500, which is not as absurd a discount as their 5DII price, but is still low enough to be suspect. They also have an unlocked iPhone for $680, which I am lead to believe is about right. Expensive DSLRs and iPhones are popular items for scammers to "sell." There is no phone # to call, but there's a "click to call" popup where you enter your phone # and they call you. The whole thing reeks TBH. SlickDeals has a thread about this: Canon EOS 5D Mark II Digital SLR Camera with Canon EF 24-105mm IS lens at Sears.com $1400 - SlickDeals.net Forums Googling the seller's email address yields this: Kempton OnlineDIY /me sings Scam scam scam scam scammmity SCAAAM.
  10. The going price for that combination is ~$3300. I strongly suspect Sears pays well over $1400 for that kit. If not, I'll take two.
  11. Nice use of the 10-22, Haj. Kind of re-kindles my interest in one. That is, if I weren't trying to move away from APS-C (and digital cameras altogether, for that matter).
  12. Included for ZOMG SPACEHEATER value. A photos found via a few GISes, several of which lead back to this very thread.
