Thingfling is having their version of a woot-off. Right now it's a pair of unisounds with ~18 minutes left: https://www.thingfling.com/
  2. Poe's Law applies to high end audio, I swear.
  3. At this point I have ruled out any of the Adcoms, as well as the particular Bryston and B&K amps I linked to, as they are either sold or expired. I really don't want to invest in an amp that is 10 or more years old. The Stratos (Plus) is still on the table, and of course the Emotivas. I can now confirm that the sodding blue LED meters can be turned off, which is wise the part of the company. Just to add to the confusion, Outlaw has crashed their site again put their entire line of multichannel amps on sale. Including the looney tunes 300Wx7 model 7900. Even at the $1050(!) discount, that beast is out of my price range. Also, I'd need to hire an electrician to wire two new circuits to the living room. Also also, I could barely move the damn thing. I'd be like the hassle of owning a Krell, without actually owning a Krell. I wish Outlaw made 2 or 3 channel amps with 200 or 300WPC. I probably shouldn't be biased against it, but their Model 2200 200W monoblock really doesn't appeal to me. I'd like to audition a class D amp. I've never heard one properly, and I like the idea of their efficiency and lack of heat dispersion. When I went into Spearit Sound and asked about them last year, I was greeted with snobbery and derision. In 2010 an "audition" often means buying the unit in question and then selling it if it doesn't meet expectations. Other than Rotel, any H-Cers have any suggestions on manufactuers models of quality class D home amps?

Cool, what are you gonna drive with it? Center channel, I presume.
  8. Sauce.
  9. What I've been up to recently: Molly, giving me a taste of my own medicine and haranguing me with her point and shoot. DJ Sinistarr is visible in the background. EF 50mm F/1.8 (Mk I) @ F/2.8, ~2 minute exposure, ISO 100. WB was set to tungsten, IIRC. 76 second exposure, other settings as above. I love my old non-USM primes because they have a hard stop at infinity focus, which is essential for nighttime long exposures. Trying to set a USM lens to infinity in the dark is enough to drive one mad.
  10. Those shots are excellent, Ironed Reamer. You should post some more in the photography thread. I have been battling these masked bandits: Cute little bastards aren't they? They're not nearly so endearing when they chew a hole in to one's building, make a nest and produce epic quantities of shit. I've spent the last week patching holes and laying traps These two were the first that I captured. I thought I was lucky to catch two at once on my first go. The next three nights I didn't have any luck, but several sweeps of the building showed no new evidence of raccoons. I am thinking (hoping) they have split for good.
