  1. Because resolution is the one factor that is strongly affected by distance, too close and you get the screen door effect, too far and you lose the ability to distinguish a certain level of detail. Color, contrast ratio, etc stay the same, and for me it's actually easier to get a feel for the overall performance at a greater distance, because I can see more of the display at one time.
  2. Ya it's not bad.

    Melting bunny video is hilarious.
  4. I've never really liked most CCFL backlit LCDs in low-light conditions. Yeah, my recommendation would be for whatever the current entry-level Panasonic plasma is. Given the type of usage and the size/distance involved here, there's really little benefit as you move up Panny's plasma line.
  5. CCFL backlight. \
  6. I dunno... the kind that flies around for a while doing nothing before resting, then doesn't give a shit when you walk up and grab it?
  7. Still not the right thing to say.
  8. I don't think that was the right thing to say.
  9. Maybe I'll set up some spycams to catch it in the act then...
  10. Caught a bat that got in the house and ejected it from the premises.
  11. My player never gets turned on by the stuff I play.
  12. So I took apart the 2nd K1000 with a nasty rattling problem, and as I hoped it was the simplest problem possible: a hair had gotten onto the driver. It still needs to be stripped down and cleaned inside and out though, this K1000 is rather... gross.
  13. Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS... tired of fucking around with my old worn-out digital camera, and I need a small P&S anyways.
  14. I've still yet to find anybody who could tell me what this fundamental sonic difference between a headphone amp and a speaker amp is, when they only really differ by output power. It's kinda like the whole SS amps sound X way, tube amps sound Y way overgeneralization.

Ohh, you mean the day before pre-game, I thought you meant the day before the meet proper. I haven't booked my flight yet so I dunno what time I'm actually arriving.

I'm down for it; I'm planning to arrive on Thursday.
  17. You're too pissed out man.

  20. Oh this should be entertaining.

    Obviously.
  22. watdafuck?
  23. Mine are the older style, however the box says "AKG Acoustics" on the foam, not "AKG K1000", and uses a softer foam with a larger space for the cable and connector to go. Things like this can be useful as guides to determine the approximate point of other changes, but it rarely can be relied as an absolute rule because of how much AKG likes to mess with us. Unlike many of their other headphones, there isn't an obvious visual difference in the driver to identify the change (and the difference is NOT due to the PCB), so with the K1000 you can only really rely on listening to them.

The other half of the room has been spoken for.

Well I just booked a double for 3rd-7th at the group rate with no problem. Anyone staying those days or less wanna share it and split the cost of the room?
