  1. Fantastic. Maybe I should confirm this as the ultimate Christmas present an music lover can receive....will talk to the folks and see if it would be something they would like to do instead. The OOP titles have already increased in price if found at elusive disc and the like. I wish I would have thought if this earlier! Oh well.....
  2. Thanks Jacob. I'm sure people will chime in There are a total of 64 titles. I'm guessing they will send out 2 per month as the titles are released. However, joining in the subscription this late with many titles already released, I'm not sure how they send the older released titles. I sent a few questions to them and hopefully will hear back by monday or so. If they can set up a special schedule with me for the older titles that are released but not OOP, I think I know what I would want for Christmas! My folks have been trying to figure out what they can give me and what is better than the gift of music that keeps on giving. Let's see if this can pan out well for me...it is quite an investment, but it is long term...
  3. Hey guys, I was wondering about this subscription as I've never done anything like this before. How does it work exactly? They send you 2 titles a month for how many titles? For people who have this subscription, how are you liking the sound quality of the records? I know Analogue Productions does a run of 25 titles with 2 titles a month, but I'm not sure how the Music Matters subscription works out. I think MM can easily fulfill my jazz fetish Do you guys think its worth doing?
  4. I would get a DROBO and load it up with some 2tb drives for the future. Automatic headache free backups. I use one exclusively for my iTunes lossless library. At 3 terabytes of lossless music right now.
  5. The price on the PICO dac right now is at an all time low Go to headamp.com Today only. About 8.5 hours left.
  6. That looks totally sweet. There just is no substitute for all that vinyl goodness. Have fun!
  7. Just borrowed a test record with some 1khz tones to set azimuth electronically. Finally I can lay down azimuth settings in peace. To hell with the mirror and magnifying glass! Now where is my multimeter...I know its in the garage somewhere. Now that Clearaudio Accurate as no where to hide! hahahaahaa
  8. David Gilmour 5LP set - Live in Gdansk
  9. Many many many happy returns of the day Vicky. Hope all your wishes come true this year!
  10. Faker, but definitely got my ears perked up! http://www.geversaircraft.com/wt/wt5
  11. I'm so sending a big fat porcupine through that tunnel!
  12. Dude...if you cared to read around and just maintain an average general knowledge about audio...there are barely a few hi end french audiophile companies. The one he is talking about AND owns is the Audio Aero Capitole, a ridiculously non-digital sounding source. The french nailed it with the sound signature.
  13. Got my copy of Porcupine Tree - Incident 2LP Limited Edition Vinyl with the awesome Book.
  14. Passion : Music For The Last Temptation Of Christ - 200 Gram [Double LP]
  15. Chickenfoot on Vinyl (Sammy Hagar Joe Satriani Michael Anthony Chad Smith) Damn rock super group just rocks! Who would've thought Satriani can hold up so well in an actual group.
  16. I pointed him to this thread Looks like those Gotham cables are the winners. Thanks for the healthy discussion folks.
  17. Perfect. Thanks for the info! I'll pass this thread on to my buddy.
  18. Nice...so "technically" it should be ok to use a well made XLR interconnect (a single and not the pair), as a microphone cable if the connections are the same on (XLR) on both ends that are suited for the job. I just wanted to run it by you guys... So there is no impedance issues or anything that are specific to microphone cables then right? If all is well, he has his sights set on a nice Ohno Continuous Cast Copper cable he would like to use. I'll wait for a few reply's to make sure and then just let him know it's good to go. Screaming Oranges, thanks for the Mogami suggestion. I will make sure to pass it on to him. Dusty Chalk, seems like XLR balanced cables are used on the same premises right? Long runs making sure the signal is intact end to end.
  19. Hey guys, My friend is looking into doing some recordings. He asked me if there is a difference between the XLR Microphone cables and XLR balanced audio interconnects. I didn't know the answer to that. Can someone offer some guidance in this matter? Thanks!!
  20. Hollow Bamboo - Ronu Majumdar [HYBRID SACD] Indian Architexture - Ustad Ali Akhbar Khan [Water Lily Acoustics Vinyl LP] Khansahib passed away June 19th, 2009. I will really miss him. He has been an inspiring Indian Classical figure with a great influence on the musical part of my life. A massive loss to the Indian Classical genre. His soul really quenched the thirst of many an Indian Classical lovers life.
  21. Ok I've ordered the DVD. Plus, I've been reading like crazy and I've managed to spin some records successfully. Plus, now I have a few VPI enthusiasts coming over to my place to fine tune. I think I should be pretty well set by the end of the weekend. Quite the learning experience for me this arm! ~Gaurav
  22. The same cartridge is $2k on audiogon right now. Even that is a little too much for me. Either way, it doesn't detract from the fact that I shouldn't do anything stupid with it. I would be JUST as careful if it were a $500 cartridge...there is no excuse for silly carelessness on my part. I hope you're catching my drift.
  23. Oh no!! I didn't read ANYTHING in your post that I found offensive. Please DON'T feel that way. I'm trying to re-read my post to see what I said that made you think that? hmm Ohhhhh its the last line probably where I said "experimenting". No dude...that's just my own personal thoughts and the horrid feeling that I might break off the whole cantilever by doing something stupid like a vinyl newbie. Even if I don't have any problems with the setup, I would love to have you over 7/15 for a listening session, if you would accept. You are most welcome at my place anytime.
