R.I.P Gerry Inspiration to generations who grew up with his shows. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/12/26/gerry_anderson_dies/

Just to add, there was more to the gathering than just Bacon. Al was on Traeger duty outside in a downpour to ensure that there was more than enough tasty meat for everyone, and Claire overcame the obstacle of having the stove die on them to produce a sit down meal for the multitude. A triumph over adversity. With bacon.

Al and Claire graciously invited Joanne, a friend and myself to their family holiday gathering of the clan. The headcount was mid thirties, and division of labor had been applied to the food situation. Claire had jokingly assigned me "bacon surprise". Be careful what you wish for Hence last nights cooking marathon And a production line this morning. But the resulting chocolate covered bacon, candied bacon and bacon wrapped goats cheese stuffed dates were well received. I think I may corrupted some vegetarians on the way. Thanks Al and Claire for a great time, hope you managed to find time out from your hosting duties to enjoy the evening and the great company (and the Bacon )

Happy Birthday Guys, they should make it a holiday , or something.

Skyped with my mother when she was round my sisters family, so got to wish them all a Merry Christmas and happy new year, including My Ph.D Nephew and his Japanese fiance. Parked behind a silver SLS AMG at Blackie's Pasture (as you do) before walking into Tiburon with Joanne, got to Sam's Just before they closed the kitchen, so managed to have Fish and Chips outside, while admiring San Francisco across the bay. Coffee and Cake before the walk back to the car (say 5 mile round trip) Spent the evening cooking bacon and yet more bacon in surprising ways. Happy Christmas Head Case!

Its interesting that, sadly, we've been here before http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/07/23/jon-stewart-mocks-conservatives-trying-to-suppress-gun-control-debate/ and how familiar the points and sides taken appear. I understand the emotional argument, who would want this to happen to their child. or anyone. Then there's the rational argument. How big a risk of this is to you on a daily basis? Statistically road deaths are a bigger threat http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_motor_vehicle_deaths_in_U.S._by_year Yet where is the outrage and the call to ban car ownership? possibly because we weigh the costs / benefits.? What would be a proportionate response to this? I don't have any answers, and the debate here touches any many issues, freedom , trade-offs, the rule of law etc in the political experiment that is the United States. But what is encouraging is that we can have the debate, and that its broadened to take in other related issues. What world do you want to live in?

Yep, choose your child's school based on their teachers grouping and tactical reload skills. It's a societal thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate One data point being Switzerland Guns are deeply rooted within Swiss culture - but the gun crime rate is so low that statistics are not even kept. "Between the ages of 21 and 32 men serve as frontline troops. They are given an M-57 assault rifle and 24 rounds of ammunition which they are required to keep at home." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/1566715.stm Bill hicks said this 20 years ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MEzCtyRWP8 Do you fear your neighbor?
