I missed the pair of XLRs on the far right there...lousy pocket pc and blacke scale issues.

Is there a reason why it only has single ended output or was it just a matter of preference? ...I love me my point-to-point. Though that other place would consider that poor and sloppy work if its done on anything but a PCB.

Well if you really want to do it right you need a UPS (AVR) and Surge protector. To provide surge protection and protection from brown outs and such. Some like the Brickwall surge protector will do perfectly and perhaps an AVR from APC?

I no longer have the pretty purple cables as that as over a year ago but I can come up with something fun. Let me dig around the cable big and see what I have... do you have anything specific you can use cable wise?

I imagine that the Macintosh development team would have done a bit of research into the matter before moving forward.... there is also the notion that headphones are inferior to speakers and are only used when absolutely necessary and thusly nothing of quality is owned by many of the "speaker" guys.

1/4" is typically viewed as pro grade and 1/8" as consumer.

I listen almost exclusively to speakers but picked the the ZD to use as a preamp. Wanted a nice tube based preamp and figured why not get something that could also serve as a head amp if wanted.

I would highly recommend a Lavry DA10 via its balanced out to a pair of HD650s. Simply have someone reterminate a stock cable with female XLRs (I would be willing to do it for the cost of parts and shipping if you like).

Likely cost about the same.
