  1. If you drop it down from the smallest angle so that you've essentially just folded the cover back on itself, the angle for typing is better. They are carrying them at the Apple Store so you can probably pop over and give one a whirl. I hesitated to get a case at this point, since in 3 months the internets will be clogged with iPad case announcements, but you really do need something. Man oh man, would I love a case that had an integrated BT keyboard built into it some how.... that would be killer.... and probably foolishly expensive.
  2. I picked up the Incase Convertible Book Jacket yesterday. Overall I like it. It adds bulk, but I feel like the iPad is safe in my bag going to and from work. Also, the various angles work well for viewing video content. I would note that there are three angles, and the smallest angle doesn't really work well. The iPad is too heavy for the case to support it. The good thing is that the small angle doesn't seem practical for anything. It's too much of an angle to type on and awkward for viewing (IMHO). Folding the case back puts the iPad at a good angle for typing in landscape mode. Overall, I like it.
  3. I don't buy from Allied a lot, but they can be a good place to go to, if Mouser/Digi-Key is out of stock: New mobile version of their site. IDEC
  4. Apple actually feature a lot of books from Project Gutenberg in the iBooks store... so you can download them directly to the device. Otherwise you handle this the same way you'd handle adding music to an i device.. get a file, drag it into iTunes and sync to the iPad.
  5. I just picked up Good Reader as well. I'd be interested to hear how the two compare.
  6. iTeleport for iPad | Upgrade Just saw this. If you own iTeleport for the iPhone you might want to hold off buying on the iPad.
  7. Shpadoinkle? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktvjbv7wq34
  8. Devs need time to develop. The more time they have the more polished the product is at launch. Also, the more things there are at launch for the new OS.
  9. You do that too! Man, I thought I was the only one. Icky icky.
  10. iPad Accessories - Power Support USA Power support makes a matte finish screen protector for the iPhone/iPod Touch. I haven't seen anything out yet for the iPad, but I would imagine those things are coming soon.
  11. Well, you could get another wifi router and configure it to connect to your current network and help increase the coverage area. I know you can do this with Apple routers... I'm sure you can do it with others. Also, if your current WiFi router has an antenna jack on the back, you might be able to attach an antenna to increase coverage (not sure if routers have this anymore though, they used to).
  12. Agreed! I'm also a little disappointed that they don't include their voice recorder app or their clock app with timer, stopwatch and alarms...
  13. I have not had trouble with my home network. See what happens at work tomorrow.
  14. I have found touch typing with the onscreen keyboard to be quick and easy. I thought sitting this thing on my lap and typing would be a pain, but it's quite easy. Gonna write a book on it...no. But for email, forum posting and other light typing, it's fine, better than fine actually. Using it in landscape mode is the way to go. Portrait mode is ok, but less convenient. Browsing the web is awesome. The browser is very responsive. There are a lot of iBooks out there right now and many free classics from project Gutenberg.
  15. Oh man. Netflix streaming is quite the business. Looks and works awesome. Agreed. There's a lot of incentive for developers to a least update their app for the ipad's resolution.
  16. Currently syncing my iPad. Will report back later. I ended up going to my local Apple store. Got there @8:45 and walked out of the store @9:30. Seemless. It's fucking gorgeous.
  17. I'm excited to see this in there at launch: iTunes Store - The Omni Group - OmniGraffle Not sure if I want to drop $50 on it yet, but I will definitely loo into it. We're about to build a workflow for a business process at work and this type of thing could help a lot. Can't wait for Omnioutliner to come in from the Omni Group as well. Also picked up the NPR, NYT, USA Today and WSJ apps. I think the WSJ will require a subscription. Can't wait to see if mags like Scientific American, National Geographic and the New Yorker have apps soon.
  18. MD... that's awesome! I'm crossing my fingers for you man! On the house front... I'm trying to stay grounded... but man, do we want this house. It's nestled in the woods with two out buildings. One is a shed that can't be more than 2-4 years old and the other was labeled as an "office". Finished with electricity...etc. When we looked at it, my wife said, "Oh, yes, you can finally get all your tools and projects out of the house, it can be your little man cave" Didn't even have to argue about it.... YES. Nice little closet in there for storing whiskey too.
  19. Yeah, not sure which scares me more. Shit, having a kid seemed easy.
  20. Put an offer on a house... holy crap.
  21. Awesome.... Dr. Horrible is there as well. Actually, looking through the content today... it seems like there's a lot more now than a few days ago. Maybe it's just me. Of course, we use Netflix streaming more for TV shows, not movies. In that regard, it's been well stocked.
  22. Andy Ihnatko has one now... Macbreak weekly special edition: http://dts.podtrac.com/redirect.mp4/twit.cachefly.net/video/mbw/mbw0188/mbw0188_h264b_864x480_500.mp4
  23. Check out Simplenote... great on the iPhone.
