Booq has a nice looking bag as well.. Taipan Small I think it's called. I kinda like that Timbuk2 allows you to create your own bag though... if you want... they are pricey though.

What did you do today?
We close on may 13, rent back to them for two days and can move in starting on the 16th. Fortunately our current lease runs until the end of May so we can move in slowly over two weeks. We've never done that before, so I don't know if that's a good thing not. We're planning on moving small thing (boxes and so forth) during the week and getting a van and some friends the next weekend to move furniture and so forth. The one thing I love about moving is the purging. Getting rid of all that crap that frankly, we don't need, don't use and are just carting around. As I get older I despise "things" more and more. I want to live in my spaces, not have to store crap in them and live around those things. So moving is a great way to consolidate (at least it has been for us, and we've moved a few times in the 9 years we've been together). Yeppers. On top of that, I've got a bit of the tendinitis in my right hand. So that sucks too. Hopefully moving slowly will be what helps. We'll see. Abi's awake now. Time to introduce her to some Sonny Rollins this morning

Packing. God I hate moving. The upside is that this is the last time we move for a long time.

You might want to check with Shellyh as to what she uses. I seem to recall in the iPad apps thread that she used something else and liked it.

I picked that up last night as well. neat little app, not sure if I'll use it a lot, but it's fun to doodle some ideas out.

Another vote for Goodreader. It can access files stored on Dropbox, MobileMe, IMAP or POP3 mail servers, Google Docs, box.net, webdav, ftp servers....etc. It just allows you to view docs though, not edit. I've been using it a lot and it's great for a lot of the reference policy docs I might want to reference at a meeting. It's come in handy already. You download and store docs on the device, but you can erase them to make more room. Since you're accessing docs in the cloud somewhere, there isn't a storage concern unless you're not going have wireless access.

The iPod Touch promo (or any ed promo) usually starts running mid to late summer and runs through September... in line with Back to School type sales. It seems like it also serves to diminish the current stock of iPods for their inevitable Sept/Oct iPod update. At least that's how it's been the last few years. The rebate is variable depending on the state. In many states, you have to buy everything and then mail in or submit the rebate. In CT at least (I know this because my mother bought a MBP and iPod Touch) the rebate is applied directly at the point of sale as per CT law.

The two big To Do/GTD apps are Things and Omnifocus. Both are great and feature rich. I've used Things on the Mac and iPhone and both are great. Ultimately I went with Omnifocus, because it's geared more toward personal project management. Having said that, Things scales well. It's a very unassuming app at first, but pretty powerful and flexible. It seems to me that it's the kind of app that's easy to use at any level. Omnifocus has a steeper learning curve, but it too has some killer features and capabilities. Quick review of Things (pre-iPad): Things: Task Management With Style | Mac.AppStorm

Love mine. It's precisely the go between I have been looking for. I carry all my various reference docs around to meetings and can do light note-taking as well. Web access is good and I can even get around our sharepoint lists. it would be nice to add the ability to give and create presentations, but it looks from the reviews that Keynote needs some work. Other than that.. around home, it's great. Great for watching Netflix when I build, great for casual gaming. Overall a joy to use. People joke and jab about how it doesn't do anything a laptop or netbook can't do, and they're right. But I have a hell of a lot more fun doing those things with the iPad.

There's an app called soundpaper for the iPad that looks neat. It allows to to record audio of what's going on (like conversation in a meeting) while you type notes. Then when you select a word in the notes, it takes you to that spot in the audio recording. Pretty neat idea. Might have to download it and try it out.

I think it has two dongles. One with a SD card reader and the other with a USB Jack so you can hook your camera directly to the iPad via USB. iPad Camera Connection Kit - Apple Store (U.S.)

Thanks all. We're pretty excited. Yeah, we're definitely on the look out. Fortunately we have some good recommendations for home inspector... et all. We will definitely be there for the inspection and so will my father-in-law who I trust a great deal with matters like this. swt61: congrats! I'm not surprised though, you are Head-Case's resident wood master.

iLounge posted some thoughts on iPad Games: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/ipad-gems-22-ipad-launch-re-releases-are-they-worth-re-downloading/ I haven't played Asphalt 5 for the iPad, but I have it on the iPhone and have always enjoyed it.
