  1. I love my silver interconnects from Pure Silver Sound. They take forever to burn in, though. Like weeks.
  2. I always liked Joe better. Funny thing is, they both really talk like that. The following conversation occured at the end of my viewing of Saw III: Dusty: Well...that didn't exactly live up to the standards set by the first two. Hirsch: That's one way of putting it. Dusty: How would you put it? Hirsch: It sucked. Dusty: (LOLs)
  3. Skip Montreux. PS I've been on a Miles binge myself lately, and have all of the Columbia series and the live ones except Montreux and Plugged Nickel (which for some reason is no longer in Borders' catalog) and the Legendary Prestige Quintet Sessions.
  4. Yeah, I go through that too, every time someone uses the word "remix" in that "more than just a remaster" sense. There should really be a different term for that, like remixdown. PS R. Kelly hates Saw III. Likes Grados, though. Tolerates Ryan Adams, but I think that's just his public face being nice.
  5. What's wrong with them besides the fact that they're missing pads? And: It says right in the auction:
  6. 's'truth.
  7. I picture her driving a mecha.
  8. I am. And Bjork is pretty diverse, too. I'm also looking forward to the new Tori Amos that it's being paired with on that site.
  9. They're amazing live. Tight as a mosquito's butt. Think Chili Peppers meets Rush meets John Zorn...or think of something else, because I just choked on that one a little bit.
  10. Just got back from seeing VNV Nation and And One at the 9:30 Club -- right in the middle of some banter, Ronin said, "don't listen to that guy on Head-Case, he's full of shit." And then a girl who had just turned legal offered to have sex with him after the show, and someone threw him a leprechaun. "Standing" is still my favourite song by them, but "Genesis" is up there, too. He has such a great voice compared to so many others in the genre (the Arnold-Schwarzeneggar-alike Austrian or German accent is de facto in EBM the same way growling is in metal), and such a great stage presence (he basically carries the show, with lots of help from the drummer, although it would suck if they skimped on the other two synthesists), that they really are great live. And for once, the audience in DC didn't suck! (Usually they just stand around mopeful.) And One were awesome live, too. They promised to come back next year and play a two-and-a-half hour set. I hope they do, I did not get enough of them by a long shot.
  11. Yes, but all those reviews aren't worth anything if they disagree with your impressions.
  12. Dang, those Acoustic Zen Adagios are gorgeous.
  13. OMG, I hated the third one; I thought the first and second ones were fantastic, though, a real return to form in the horror genre. I mean, they don't even show the infamous foot amputation scene. I saw an interview with the director where he was bragging about how gross one particular scene (the piercings scene) was -- in the first one, he has nothing to brag about, so he has to fall back on the story, so it's better for it. Hated. Hated. Hated. And the ending? Beautiful? It was obviously just an attempt to nicely wrap up the series, close off any loose ends. Obviously just pointless violence, nothing scary about that at all. Billy -- you should see "Scary Movie 4" -- it's a sendup of a lot of movies in the style of Airplane (directed by the same guy). It should give you enough to appreciate what he's doing here. (I love the part where he motions to the other guy, "hey, come here, this one's going to do it"...) Warning, it might ruin a few movies for you, so hopefully you've seen them all first -- War of the Worlds, Brokeback Mountain, The Village, Million Dollar Baby...I forget what else...oh, yeah, The Ring and The Grudge. But if you don't watch scary movies, then you won't care if movies like the Ring and The Grudge are ruined for you. Any others? You should probably check: link ...and also the one where Eminem is a rapper in a competition -- 8 Mile? Or was that from 3? I forget...
  14. I take it you've never seen any of the Saw movies, then? He's asking for the most tube-like solid-state amplification, in an entertainingly roundabout manner.
  15. It's hard to sodomize a swarm. I doubt the amp experts on Head-Fi lied to you -- but there are only a couple of those. Other people pretending to be amp experts may be lying to you, but I suspect they just don't know better. There should be an entry on that list for a "Regurgitator". Sorry about that.
  16. No, it's great! It's a good indicator of the listening position. Oh, and if I may ask: what software did you use that provides slippers with a button-click?
  17. Great, I'm going to die, and the last thing I'm going to hear is Ryan Adams.
  18. Yeah, you keep telling yourself that...
  19. Having a pair of RS-1's stapled to my head is punishment enough. Can't I get a good pair of headphones, you fucking sadist?
  20. My favourite non-tube amp is the Creek OBH-11SE -- I've heard that the current version is as good (21SE?). I also liked the Singlepower, though I'm not sure it's actually shipping yet (other than the one). I would also consider buying a Musical Fidelity A3.2 (or A3^CR in a pinch), and connecting an RCA-to-1/4" jack converter, as I've heard that particular combination, and it was sweet. Is that in the room? Or am I doomed to death by brain compression? I've seen that in a movie once, it's not a pretty sight. And oh yeah -- what's wrong with just trying to find the best current-production tubes? Some of them are not so bad. Ei Elite gold pins...Mullard reissues...
  21. I said volume control, not source selection, pea-soup-for-brains.
  22. Dude, you even put your slippers in the diagram. LOL! I think that should be a function of (a) how much time you actually spend listening to the speakers, and ( what you can afford.
  23. Just be thankful you didn't have them on your head at the time as well. All the same, I hate when shit breaks, be it my fault (as is the case with my ATH-A100Ti) or otherwise.
  24. Does that have a remote? He specifically mentioned remote volume control, you fucking shill.
  25. Musical Fidelity A3.2 should go for ~<US$1K (personally, I'd wait around for US$700-800). Here's one. Rated Class A by Stereophile. Even has a phono pre built in. Not sure how much the A308's go for, but if you're not in any rush, you might try one of those. Should be bet'n US$1.5K-US$2K.
